**Starting pay for this Position is $54,000**

Summary/Primary Purpose: Plays a key role on the Divisional Communications Team, serving as videographer/MMJ and social media facilitator while also providing assistance with graphic design and website updates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  1. Serve as The Salvation Army Western Division's videographer, recording/editing/producing a variety of video projects as directed by the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications; this may include "one-man-banding/MMJing" stories independently in the field.
  2. Work closely with the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications on news-gathering projects to generate stories about Salvation Army programs, services, staff, clients, awards, etc. This can include both videos and newspaper-type stories posted to Salvation Army websites.
  3. Serve as the day-to-day social media facilitator across all four Western Division/Salvation Army of Omaha social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn)-posting/scheduling content daily as directed by the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications.
  4. Plan out, in collaboration with the Senior Director of Marketing and Communications, social media posts for future weeks, months, etc.
  5. Provide social media support and advice to Salvation Army Western Division corps (field units).
  6. Assist with graphic design projects on an as-needed basis.
  7. Post content to Salvation Army websites on an as-needed basis.
  8. Serve as a photographer for local and regional Salvation Army events.
  9. Participate in team development of fundraising, marketing, and public relations actions for future TSA events.
  10. Support the Development Department by helping out at special events (such as the DJ's Hero Awards Luncheon); onsite presence at such events - and occasional after-hours work meetings - is required and may include some nights and weekends.
  11. This position requires the discipline to be a self-starter, the initiative to manage/coordinate important projects, and the ability to maintain focus from beginning to end.
  12. This position requires flexibility especially during the spring-summer extreme weather season-to rapidly deploy across Nebraska, Iowa, and South Dakota in case of a natural disaster such as a tornado or flood for the purposes of covering Salvation Army units' disaster-relief operations.
  13. This role may also be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays, as directed.
  14. Driving is an essential role of this position.
  15. All other duties as assigned.



Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Education and/or Experience: Degree in journalism, PR, communications, marketing, graphic design, or similar required. Two to three years of relevant experience in journalism, PR, communications, or related field required. Experience in managing social media accounts via apps like Hootsuite is a plus.

Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal knowledge, skill, and/or ability required for this position.



  1. Outstanding videography skills, including both shooting video and video editing.
  2. Excellent skills in Adobe Creative Suite, including Premiere Pro, graphic design to include software such as Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator.
  3. Must have exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  4. Project management skills to include implementation, execution, and conclusion of projects.
  5. Flexibility and strong organizational skills for managing multiple projects or tasks simultaneously, as well as creative problem-solving skills.
  6. Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point, and ability to access pay, personal, and timekeeping data via a web-based system.
  7. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and news stories.
  8. Demonstrated ability to handle confidential matters.
  9. Strong independent judgement.
  10. Mathematical skills to include addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and use of common fractions and decimals.



Other Qualifications: Must pass all applicable background checks. Must possess a valid driver's license from the state in which you reside. Must be approved through The Salvation Army Fleet Safety Program to drive either a Salvation Army or personal vehicle on Salvation Army business. Must successfully complete Safe from Harm training within 90 days of hire, as established by The Salvation Army.
