Join Our Team as a Spiritual Cultural Support Liaison at PrairieCare! Are you a passionate advocate for Native American communities with a deep understanding of cultural values and mental health care? Do you want to empower individuals and families to take an active role in their healing journey? If so, we invite you to apply for the exciting position of Spiritual Cultural Support Liaison at PrairieCare! What You'll Do: As a Spiritual Cultural Support Liaison, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating communication between Native American patients, their families, and our care teams. Your responsibilities will include:
- Cultural Advocacy: Share your knowledge of Native American cultural teachings, including the Seven Grandfathers, medicine wheel, and sacred plant medicines, to enhance understanding and respect within the treatment environment.
- Ceremonial Facilitation: Lead and facilitate spiritual ceremonies such as sage ceremonies, talking circles, and cedar healing ceremonies, fostering a sense of community and healing.
- Patient Empowerment: Craft medicine pouches and tobacco ties for patients, providing them with culturally significant tools for their healing journey.
- Collaborative Care: Work closely with doctors, social workers, and therapists to develop care plans that address the spiritual and cultural needs of Native American patients.
- Community Outreach: Engage with the Native American community through education and support initiatives, ensuring patients and families feel connected and informed before and after discharge.
- Network Building: Collaborate with community agencies, tribal entities, and social workers to create a robust support network for patients and families.
- Cultural Education: Develop culturally appropriate educational materials and provide training to staff on the unique needs and values of Native American communities.
Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent required
- Knowledge of our Regional Native American communities, urban and reservations, with an understanding of the vast tribal/intertribal differences.
- Have recognition/endorsement by the Native American community.
- Ongoing awareness and personal care to appropriately address existing or potential secondary traumatic stress related to lived experience and work experience within the Native American community and mental health systems.
- Ability to advise staff about the Native American community and specialized role.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all members of the care team.
- Considered a subject matter expert in their area of specialty.
- Ability to focus on solving conflict, to be aware of lateral violence of self to others.
- Ability to display passion and optimism.
- Ability to hold patient confidentiality and strictly adhere to HIPAA and other privacy laws and policies governing the medical system.
Pay range for this position is $20.00 to $26.00 depending on education and experience. Benefit options include:
