Lead Warehouse Associate (Receiving)

Job Summary

Coordinate and ensure the successful completion of distribution related tasks, including both shipping and receiving operations. Must be team and customer oriented. Responsibilities include but may not be limited to: leading packaging and shipment/receipt and put away processes, shipment quality, meeting customers' shipping expectations, workforce planning, and general departmental administration consistent with the Company's objectives.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Run and manage daily reports to ensure parts are properly received, put away, and shipped.
• Organize and assign work, taking into account the current manpower levels; instruct, guide and otherwise assist employees in the performance of their work.
• Communicate with customer service and other Nordson personnel to ensure proper handling of shipment documentation.
• Investigate, report, and help resolve distribution related issues.
• Work with inventory control and materials planning to resolve issues related to overages/shortages.
• Work with the quality team to resolve discrepant material related issues coming into or going out of the Distribution Center.
• Identify opportunities for improvement and assist with implementation.
• Assist with improving steps within standard work processes.
• Efficiently utilize available man-hours to ensure the successful and timely completion of daily objectives while simultaneously maintaining established quality standards.
• Train new employees and coach existing employees.
• Assist in administrative activities when necessary, including processing shipments and creating bills of lading.
• Perform receiving, put away, picking, packing, and shipping tasks.
• Answer time-critical emails.
• Rotation of on-call phone for handling of afterhours customer service requests
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Responsible for following and enforcing company policies and procedures involving safety, performance and quality.

Education and Experience Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Familiar with Warehouse operations.

Preferred Skills and Abilities

• SAP experience (sales order experience preferred).
• Capable of learning Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Lead a team culture while showing respect.
• Consistently assign tasks without showing favoritism.
• Experience with load leveling and manpower adjustment.
• Capable of learning Lean principles.

• Experience managing multiple activities on a daily basis.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Forklift certified.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Warehouse/Manufacturing environment. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily in a fast paced environment.
