The Field Application Scientist is responsible for providing in-depth technical expertise to laboratory partners (R&D and operations), primarily focusing on complex application and utilization of LIMS' advanced features.
- Provide technical leadership in devising approaches to meet project objectives. Design, develop, validate, and deploy new software applications, databases, processes, and interfaces relating to next-generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis, advanced diagnostic testing development and validation, data quality review, and clinical reporting.
- Serve as SME on specific systems/workflows supporting advanced development and high-tier production support.
- Guides and mentors other engineers and project team members to accomplish project objectives.
- Consult on process and technology improvements within R&D, Operations, and IT departments.
- Participate in resolution of support requests.
- Regularly report progress and prepare data analyses for internal review
- Prepare reports and other communications of technical activities related to business objectives such as product/process development and improvement.
- Activities may be focused individual projects or, more usually, assignments as a member of a project team, often working closely with other Software Developers, R&D bench scientists, Genetic Counselors, Operations Scientists, and other technical business partners.
Required Work Experience: 3+ years of experience in a LIMS Field Application Specialist role, preferably in healthcare or diagnostics environments Preferred Work Experience: Proactive mindset with a passion for improving user experience. Knack for translating complex clinical workflows into user-friendly software solutions. Adaptability to thrive in a dynamic and collaborative environment. Education: Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences , Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, or a related field. MSc or PhD degree in Life Sciences, Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred. Physical and Mental Requirements: In depth knowledge of using and building LIMS systems for sequencing based laboratory workflows. Knowledge of L7 ESP is preferred. Individual must have a high level of scientific knowledge as well as a high level of understanding of the regulated operational environment in which the LIMS functions Skills
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with healthcare standards and regulations (e.g., HL7, FHIR, CLIA) is a plus.
