- Member of the High Performance Polymer (HPP) business unit at Axis, supporting the monomer and polymer production unit.
- Located in Axis, AL, reporting to the HPP Operations Leader of the Kepstan production unit.
- <10% travel required
- Supports the site HES policy and complies with all regulatory and internal requirements
- Participates in HES activities provided by site management and Arkema Inc. (e.g., Behavioral Base Safety, eSWAT, SWP Audits, PGI's, etc.)
- Supports and promotes the reporting of all health, safety, environmental, near-miss, accident or injury incidents
- Works with little supervision and sets own priorities for the process. High level of theoretical and practical engineering understanding and track record of successfully solving problems and meeting deadlines. Solutions and projects are expected to work reliably.
- Must consider personnel and process safety to be of critical importance and have demonstrated skills in these areas.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities with % Breakdown: Identify the major activities or responsibilities of the job (usually 4 to 6). Using a short phrase name or list each activity; estimate the percentage of time spent on each one. Then describe each activity in detail, and how it is done. Use increments of 10% and higher. |
- HES: Take 'team leader' role for Process Hazard Analysis. Lead root cause analysis and lead investigations. Demonstrate leadership in use and knowledge of HES regulations in engineering work. Own and manage process safety documentation for the unit. (10%)
- Support operations. Give direction to hourly workers and hold accountable for results. (10%)
- Assist operations as needed during deviations; use analysis skills for troubleshooting, turnaround support, etc. (10%)
- Own and improve process including integration of next generation technology. Conduct Greenbelt projects to improve OEE, cost savings, and quality. Improve PFD's, P&ID's, heat and material balances, etc. (30%)
- Prepare engineering packages for unit improvements. Lead, develop & implement capital and other stage gate projects (40%)

Certifications/Trainings: |
- 2 to 5 years of industrial experience in process engineering required.
- Six Sigma certification preferred
- Some Capital project management experience (scope a execution) preferred.

- Efficient use of six sigma tools in the normal work process and develops project opportunities based on data analysis.
- Completes core Arkema technical training and actively develop deeper understanding of technology relevant to the PEKK and EKKE processes ("as-is" and "to-be").
- Develops high competency in modelling and Arkema methods and tools.
- Project team member; supports capital projects by gathering and providing data for the options being analyzed.
- Actively networks and consults with members within BU. Actively participates in corporate initiative(s). Active team member in projects and programs using Arkema work processes. May lead some programs. Messaging, presentations and written reporting to site audience.
- Has network internal to BU and begin to network outside the BU (e.g. internal conferences). Mentors less experienced engineers within BU.
- Application of historian data and multiple manufacturing digital tools, simulation and databases at plant level with tangible results.
