About Our Internship Program
This dynamic, 4-month paid internship is designed for undergraduate students interested in identifying key challenges impacting members, employees or operational processes within the healthcare industry.
This project will require the Intern to demonstrate some or all the following valuable skillsets in a professional setting:
1. Problem Framing & Definition:
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify key challenges impacting members, employees, or operational processes.
* Use structured frameworks to define problems clearly, ensuring a shared understanding across teams.
2. Data Collection & Analysis:
* Gather qualitative and quantitative data from various sources to support project objectives.
* Apply analytical techniques to identify patterns, trends, and root causes of key issues.
3. Solution Identification & Development:
* Research and brainstorm potential solutions to address identified challenges.
* Leverage best practices from healthcare and other industries to build innovative, effective solutions.
4. Process Improvement:
* Map existing processes to identify inefficiencies or potential areas for enhancement.
* Develop recommendations to optimize workflows and improve overall operational effectiveness.
5. Member-Centered Insights:
* Analyze member feedback to understand recurring concerns or pain points.
* Identify potential talking points and interventions to proactively address top member issues.
6. Employee Experience Enhancement:
* Partner with internal teams to understand common employee challenges.
* Identify actionable solutions to improve engagement and operational performance.
7. Cross-Cultural Fluency Development:
* Research best practices to enhance cross-cultural competence within the organization.
* Recommend strategies to improve communication and understanding across diverse teams and member populations.
8. Communication & Presentation:
* Synthesize findings into clear, concise presentations for internal stakeholders.
* Develop and present recommendations to senior leaders and team members.
9. Project Implementation Support:
* Assist with pilot programs and initiatives to test proposed solutions.
* Monitor results and provide feedback for adjustments and scaling.
10. Continuous Learning & Improvement:
* Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and learning opportunities to deepen understanding of healthcare operations.
* Reflect on project learnings and document best practices for future initiatives.
We're looking for candidates who have:
* Currently pursuing or recently completing a degree in relevant fields such as Healthcare Administration, Business, Public Health, Data Analytics, etc.
* Ability to collect and analyze data to identify trends, patterns, and solutions.
* Strong critical thinking skills to address challenges in a structured manner.
* Ability to synthesize complex information into clear and concise reports or presentations.
* Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively in a professional environment.
* Interested in improving health outcomes, engagement, and operational efficiencies.
Program Details:
* Program Duration: May to September (exact dates may vary).
* Location: Remote/hybrid, with potential opportunities to visit SCAN's headquarters in Long Beach.
* Compensation: Paid internship.
