Job Summary:

The Director of Communications will work closely with the Chief Public Affairs Officer (CPAO) andthe VP/GMsfor Cubic's portfolio of defense and commercial businesses in the development and execution of all public relations strategy and activity, including media communications, issue management, information dissemination and strategic communications. This position typically works under limited supervision and will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the subject matter expert in public relations for all Cubic's defense businesses.
  • Responsible for building and leading a team of public relations managers.
  • Responsible for the development of public relations strategies, including building strong relationships with agencies key to Cubic's defense businesses.
  • Initiates, develops, and implements communications plans and programs, both internally and externally. Develops and manages the timeline and coordination for each communications program. Ensures continuity of consistent image and message.
  • Sets strategy surrounding external social media and web-based communication strategies.
  • Possess strong written and oral communications skills with exemplary copywriting abilities supporting a variety of communications including web, advertising, collateral, and press releases.
  • Development, preparation and release of newsworthy information.
  • Briefs executive management prior to interviews and provides public relations counsel to management during interviews.
  • Manages and establishes relationships with outside public relations and other pertinent agencies as needed, continuously supervises and appraises their performance providing active feedback to the CPAO.
  • Work closely with the product marketing leads in the defense and commercial business units to plan, coordinate and execute marketing and communications campaigns, go-to-market strategies, trade show execution and web content management.
  • Collaborate with the government relations and business development teams to shape Cubic Defense's narrative and interactions with government officials and entities.
  • In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder may be required to perform other duties assigned by their manager.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Four-year college degree, or equivalent, in journalism, public relations, or communications plus a minimum of15+ yearsrelated experience in communications and public relations.
  • Graduate degree preferred.
  • Ability to analyze and understand complex issues affecting the company.
  • Experience required developingcommunications/publicrelations plans and recommend actions.
  • Ability to manage people and communicate effectively with all levels of management.
  • Must be available for travel monthly domestically (possible foreign travel if needed).

Cubic Pay Range:

$185,000 - $280,000* + benefits.

*Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from our lowest geographic market up to our highest geographic market.
