What You'll Do:

Evaluate Claims Exposure. Work with third party administrators to investigate and evaluate all available facts to determine whether the Company has workers' compensation claims exposure - and to what extent - under state and/or federal laws, set proper reserves, and propose appropriate courses of action. Participate in and conduct quarterly claims reviews for assigned divisions.

Develop Litigation Strategies. Develop individual case and overall litigation strategies to minimize claims exposure. Direct the efforts of outside counsel in the handling of worker's compensation litigation through personal participation, continuous monitoring, and communication.

Ensure Compliance. Monitor and ensure VMC's compliance with Federal MMSEA (Medicare) regulations for worker's compensation matters.

Negotiate Claims. Negotiate the conclusion of workers' compensation claims in order to control costs through direct communication and negotiation with injured employees and/or their attorneys.

Champion Continuous Improvement. Evaluate innovative approaches to claims handling and recommend strategies to minimize overall claims costs.

Additional Responsibilities. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Skills You'll Need:

Experience. Must have at least 3 years of experience with an emphasis in worker's compensation lost time and permanent disability claims management.

Interpersonal Skills. Must have superior skills and demonstrated experience in professional communication, both written and verbal. Must be able to coordinate consensus with people at various levels within the organization.
