A family-owned manufacturing company located in Buffalo, NY seeks to hire an experienced, hands-on, and dedicated
Maintenance Manager to lead and supervise a team of maintenance technicians on the first shift. This critical leadership role involves managing day-to-day maintenance operations, ensuring production equipment reliability, fostering a positive culture, and a maintaining a safe and efficient work environment. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise in industrial systems, hydraulics, electrical systems, and electric motors, combined with strong communications skills and a proven ability to lead and manage a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Daily Operations Management:
- Plan and coordinate maintenance schedules, including assigning and prioritizing work orders to meet production and operational deadlines.
- Oversee and perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repairs for industrial equipment, including mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Team Leadership & Development:
- Direct, mentor, and motivate a small team of maintenance technicians to meet daily operational goals.
- Provide training to improve technical skills and promote a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Oversee shop organization.
- Preventative Maintenance Program:
- Refine, monitor, and maintain preventative maintenance schedules to maximize equipment uptime and efficiency.
- Regularly inspect equipment and facilities to identify and address potential issues before they impact operations.
- Breakdown Recovery:
- Respond to and lead the team in addressing unexpected equipment failures, minimizing downtime, and communicating updates to relevant managers.
- CMMS Management:
- Maintain and utilize the department's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document activities, schedule tasks, track parts inventory, and generate reports.
- Use data from the CMMS to identify trends, optimize processes, and enhance overall equipment performance.
- Procurement and Vendor Coordination:
- Source, order, and manage inventory for replacement parts, tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Work closely with vendors to ensure timely delivery and maintain cost-effective procurement practices.
- Communication and Collaboration:
- Act as a liaison between maintenance, production, and senior management, ensuring alignment on goals and priorities.
- Regularly update line managers and company leadership on the status of maintenance projects and operational needs.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in maintenance leadership in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- 10+ years performing industrial maintenance.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for industrial equipment.
- Knowledge of industrial electrical systems including electrical panels, starters, overloads, breakers, and relays. Should have some knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
- Knowledge of welding and fabrication, forklift maintenance, plumbing, conveyors, bucket elevators, mixers, crushers, shot blasters, and other common industrial equipment.
- Proficiency with CMMS software.
- Proficient at internet usage to order parts and research technical solutions.
- Leadership Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop a team while fostering a culture of safety and accountability.
- Education & Certifications:
- Electrical Safety Training preferred.
- Familiarity with OSHA standards and safety regulations.
