METI is seeking an experienced Material Coordinator to support our contract with the Weapons Survivability Laboratory (WSL) and will be responsible for coordinating and expediting the flow of materials, parts, and assemblies within or between departments to meet production and shipping schedules. This role ensures that materials are available when needed, tracks inventory levels, and facilitates the movement of materials in accordance with job order priorities and anticipated availability. The Material Coordinator will work closely with department supervisors to monitor material requirements, requisition supplies, and oversee the transportation and assembly of materials to support the WSL contract. This position is contingent upon contract award.
Duties:
Review production schedules and coordinate with department supervisors to determine material needs and overdue items.
Requisition materials and establish delivery sequences based on job order priorities.
Arrange in-plant transfers of materials to meet production deadlines.
Inspect materials delivered to production areas to ensure they meet specifications.
Monitor and control material movement along conveyor systems using remote-control panels.
Calculate material requirements for specific job orders, applying knowledge of product and manufacturing processes.
Maintain accurate records of material inventory, usage, and availability.
Transport materials between departments using hand trucks or industrial equipment.
Compile production records to track material movement and availability.
Maintain employee records related to material handling and production support.
Qualifications:
3 years of relevant experience is required.
Experience in material coordination, logistics, or inventory management.
Knowledge of production processes and material flow within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Ability to operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts or industrial trucks (certification preferred).
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in manual or computerized inventory tracking systems.
Ability to work collaboratively with production teams and department supervisors.
Attention to detail and ability to verify materials against specifications.
