Description:


  • The Engr Transport II position will focus on the assignment of IP addresses for wireless radio access network elements and the communication of these assignments to peer engineering groups. Knowledge of wireless application of basebands, routers, and alarming units to support network growth and ethernet backhaul capacity is the primary focus. The position will then follow with the submission of work orders for network assurance teams and the documentation of network configurations (segments, circuits, equipment paths) in tools similar to Canvas(CND), FUZE (proj mgmt) and iNam (IP database). Experience in the cellular industry with Ericsson Small cell RAN hardware, a circuit tracking database and IP assignments in the wireless network is required.
  • The position will partner with multiple wireless groups supporting new small cell IP assignment (traffic, OA&M and aggregation) and documentation of paths, segments and via upgrades and new construction locations for the Illinois Wisconsin Telecommunication network team. This position will be engaged in the auditing of the Canvas (CND) database and internal Telecommunication project management tool (FUZE) to reflect accurate equipment and circuit path designations. The Transport engineer will closely collaborate with various stakeholders to accurately reflect accurate fiber designs of new and existing technologies.
  • Additional focus of the position is the optimization of the transport network including contract and NPV submission to ensure dark fiber segments are contracted to meet deployment needs
  • You will be supporting the documentation for multiple transport solutions. These initiatives will require a skill set including, Ericsson baseband, Nokia IXRs routers, Assentria Siteboss knowledge related to cellular network design. As part of this team, you will play a critical role in our network transformation to build a unified network across all lines of business and maintaining the technology that keeps millions of our customers connected.


Goals of the position:


  • IP assignment (traffic, OA&M and aggregation) for Ericsson wireless hardware configs.
  • Managing telco vendors to meet circuit delivery timelines to key wireless locations.
  • Attending project update meetings to provide technical solutions and release work orders to field engineering teams Adopting current methods/procedures for interconnect tracking.
  • Partner with field/systems Network Assurance teams to drive accurate documentation and efficient fiber connectivity activation.


Even better if you have:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • 3 or more years of Transport design experience in the cellular/telecommunications industry.
  • Experience with 3rd party vendors, ordering processes and network portfolio maps.
  • Experience with circuit database tracking (Canvas, FUZE SPM).
  • Proficient in office computer applications: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Project.
  • Must be self-motivated, show initiative, and be able to work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills needed.
