Overview:

84 Lumber is seeking a Truss Technical Sales Representative with a strong design background and a natural aptitude for sales. The ideal candidate is comfortable and proficient in engaging with store sales teams and customers, effectively communicating technical solutions and building strong client relationships.

This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about both technical design and sales, and who thrive in a dynamic, customer-focused environment.

Pay: Base salary of $75K per year, plus commission. Commission is structured as a draw against future earnings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively sell 84 Lumber's truss products and services to new and existing clients outside of store locations.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers, ensuring exceptional service and support.
  • Collaborate with store sales teams and customers to provide tailored truss design solutions.
  • Utilize technical expertise to assess customer needs, recommend products, and deliver accurate solutions.
  • Work closely with the GM and other team members to meet sales goals and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, product innovations, and competitor offerings.
  • 70% Travel to meet clients and develop strong customer relationships.

Qualifications:

  • Strong background in truss design with a keen ability to translate technical knowledge into effective sales strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to confidently engage with clients and store personnel.
  • Self-motivated and results-driven, with a focus on building long-term customer relationships.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams.

Responsibilities

Builds and maintains a network of sources from which to identify new sales leads.

Communicates with customers and leads to identify and understand their product or service needs; identifies and suggests products and services to meet those needs.

Demonstrates the functions and utility of products or services to customers based on their needs.

Ensures customer satisfaction through ongoing communication and relationship management; resolves any issues that may arise post-sale.

Maintains communication with existing and previous customers, alerting them of new products, services, and enhancements that may be of interest.

Maintains detailed reports of sales activities including calls, orders, sales, lost business, and any customer or vendor relationship problems.


Qualifications

Create and continually grow book of business and acquire new customers.

Create material estimates/read blueprints.

Source special order material.

Respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers.

Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to function in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.

Provide layouts and truss drawings.
