This position is in partnership with Boulder Community Health at 4747 Arapahoe Avenue, Boulder, CO.

The Patient Care Cashier is responsible for initiating a positive patient experience through the smooth operation and flow of patients within the registration area. This includes, but is not limited to the information outlined below:

Primary Responsibilities:

Cashier:



  • Collect patient payments
  • Calculate and return change when required by payment method
  • Maintain adequate change denominations in cash drawer
  • Reconciliation of monies collected
  • Prepare daily deposits


Registration:



  • Registering patients
  • Entering exam orders as required
  • Responsible for obtaining all demographics and insurance information
  • Point of service collections
  • Authorizations from patients (or their representatives) and physicians in a courteous and efficient manner for billing


Customer Service:



  • Greeting patients
  • Providing information
  • Answering phones
  • Other duties pertinent to optimal patient experience, patient flow, and efficient staff utilization are also expected

Required Qualifications:



  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 1+ years of customer service experience


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Previous experience working in an office or medical environment
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Cash handling experience
  • Basic knowledge of insurance
  • Excellent computer skills

  • Proper phone etiquette and communication skills
  • Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality
  • Ability to prioritize, concentrate, and multitask
  • Excellent listening skills
  • Ability to maintain high levels of accuracy and organization during high volume periods, with the ability to consistently prioritize, meet changing deadlines, and troubleshoot problems
  • Excellent problem-solving skills including ability to identify multiple factors that may impact decisions, selecting best option
  • Ability to exercise tact, judgment and persuasiveness in creating and maintaining harmonious relations in working with coworkers, patients, families, visitors, physicians, and the public
  • Must be able to maintain composure with working under stressful situations, high volume periods, with a high accuracy rate and productivity in a busy setting with many interruptions



The salary range for this role is $16.88 to $33.22 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
