CSG provides investment solutions across all major asset classes (e.g., fixed income, equities and alternatives) and vehicles including mutual funds, ETFs, CITs, separate accounts and alternative investments.

MORE ABOUT THIS JOB

This role resides in the Client Solutions Group within Goldman Sachs Asset Management's (GSAM) client business. The Insurance and Retirement Strategic Accounts team is responsible for developing and leading enterprise-level engagement with GSAM's Insurance Companies, specifically across Variable Annuity/Sub-Advised, Mutual Fund, OCIO, Retirement & Affiliated Broker-Dealer business lines. The Relationship Manager role spearheads and executes client business planning focused on Product Development, Distribution Strategy and Marketing/Thought Leadership initiatives in order to drive lasting commercial impact.

How You Will Fulfill Your Potential



  • Develop and lead partner firm coverage strategy to drive strategic initiatives aligned to firm goals, position relevant investment capabilities and value-added client solutions to help differentiate GSAM from competitors.
  • Lead and establish relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers at partner firms to drive business development efforts; forge meaningful relationships with client centers of influence (COIs) across Senior Leadership, Relationship Management, Distribution and Product teams.
  • Develop and execute distribution, marketing and conference engagement strategy at each partner firm by leveraging internal resources.
  • Build and maintain trusted, impactful partnerships with internal stakeholders, including Investment Platform Development coverage team, Investors, Product Specialists, Marketing and Compliance to deliver on client needs; experience presenting to Senior Leadership and key internal constituents across all business lines at Goldman Sachs.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance metrics on a regular basis; develop and oversee ongoing strategy to maximize distribution impact and drive flows.
  • Provide insights to Senior Leadership on competitive landscape, product positioning and client priorities on a regular cadence to maximize GSAM's industry visibility and promote enterprise service model.
  • Monitor and analyze key performance assessments, including client AUM growth, revenue generation, new business opportunity sets and partnership satisfaction across all areas of Goldman Sachs.
  • High focus on detail, execution and project management skills.
  • Serve as culture carrier within the team and broader business; provide coaching and guidance to junior team members.


Basic Qualifications



  • Minimum 8-10 years experience of Sales and/or Relationship Management experience within Insurance/Retirement Asset Management industry strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree and strong academic background required, CFA/CIMA and/or MBA a plus.
  • Active Series 7 and 63 registrations required.
  • In-depth understanding of intermediary-oriented Insurance and Retirement client base, industry trends and competitive landscape.
  • Strong understanding of complex investment product vehicles such as Sub-Advised funds and Strategic Models.
  • Demonstrated success in building and cultivating key relationships with top-tier Insurance and Retirement partners across a diversified product set.
  • Experience positioning developing and marketing co-manufactured products and strategic partnerships alongside clients and industry intermediaries.
  • Excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication skills; ability to successfully engage at an extremely senior leadership level both internally and externally.
  • Ability to work in a very team-oriented environment; collaboration, communication and organizational skills are critical for this role.
  • Ability to create Marketing and Branding content focused on advisor and client education, GS product capabilities, and investment trends; experience leading largescale projects such as industry surveys and whitepapers.
  • Participation on industry trade groups and advocacy forums.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment that is extremely dynamic, proactive and intentional.
  • Strong knowledge of reporting/attribution and competitive analysis data systems such as Morningstar, Envestnet and Genesys.
  • Significant U.S. travel required.


Salary Range
The expected base salary for this Chicago, Illinois, United States-based position is $100000-$230000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
