PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Material Controller is responsible for ensuring the efficient receipt, storage, and distribution of materials and equipment to support construction and installation activities on-site. This role involves maintaining and operating a materials control system, reviewing engineering documents, and working closely with project teams to optimize resource allocation. By aligning material management with Worley's commitment to delivering sustainable change, the Material Controller contributes to the success of projects by ensuring materials are available as needed, reducing waste, and promoting efficiency in operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Review blueprints, product specifications, and engineering documents to determine material requirements, ensuring alignment with project needs and sustainability objectives.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory system, tracking materials from receipt to distribution to support construction and installation activities.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure timely availability of materials and prevent project delays.
  • Process material orders, including identifying correct specifications, codes, and brands to meet project requirements.
  • Monitor and document material usage, adjusting orders based on existing inventory and project scope changes.
  • Support compliance with safety and quality standards in material handling, storage, and distribution.
  • Identify potential material shortages or surpluses and develop proactive solutions to mitigate risks.
  • Utilize digital tools and systems to enhance materials management processes, ensuring efficiency and data accuracy.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to team members in the material control process.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including contractors, vendors, and project teams, to ensure seamless material flow and issue resolution.


ADDITIONAL INFORMATION



  • This position is in California.
  • Salary Range $87,360 - $128,960
  • Benefits: eligible for PTO, 401k, medical, vision, dental, etc.
  • San Francisco - Pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance, we will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLSET



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant field, or extensive related experience in material control or supply chain management.
  • Experience in materials management, logistics, procurement, or a related discipline within the energy, chemicals, or resources sectors.
  • Strong understanding of engineering documents and ability to interpret blueprints and product specifications.
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, effectively planning and executing tasks within set timelines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement solutions.
  • Knowledge of safety and quality standards related to material handling and storage.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
  • Effective communication skills, capable of conveying technical information clearly to diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a dynamic, fast-paced project environment.
