Summary:

The Project Executive within the Hill Mechanical Corporation ("HMC") division of Hill Group ("Hill") liaises closely with leadership and other team members to assist in the accomplishment of company and project goals, developing a customer base, procuring projects, and maintaining financial responsibility of a team. The Project Executive is responsible for providing a customer-driven focus while managing a team and selling Hill services.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Annual business plan development that takes a strategic look at markets and promotes new customer growth while maintaining year-over-year profitability.
  • Development of a team and individual goals for the year.
  • Bid and manage projects ranging up to $35M, or multiple projects totaling that value with little oversight from leadership to include:
  • Estimate/bid projects; must be capable of thorough analysis of project document requirements, vendor offers and Hill project requirements; negotiate with key vendors for competitive pricing.
  • Responsible for the development and presentation of project proposals and bids
  • Identify value engineering and fabrication opportunities, present Customer with alternative options.
  • Lead project kick-off meetings, short interval meetings with other support groups within the company with respect to the project, complete monthly project forecast reviews, and complete monthly labor projections for projects.
  • Provide monthly projections for the hard and soft backlog opportunities for the team.
  • Review team projects on a monthly basis for billings to ensure projects are billing in excess of project costs to maintain a positive cash flow for the group.
  • Review preconstruction planning schedule by identifying critical activities, special Quality Management requirements, prefabrication, material handling and hoisting.
  • Supervising and approving final construction drawings, developing and/or approving design details; attend and manage MEP coordination meetings.
  • Develop, plan, and implement MBE/WBE/DBE participation.
  • Develop, plan, implement and monitor residency requirements.
  • Manage the construction schedule and recognize whether the deliverables/tasks are on track; analyze and develop subcontractor schedules; communicate any change in schedules and address items that are not on schedule.
  • Responsible for post-project review, metrics sharing, and lessons learned.
  • Follow-up with the clients at the completion of project to ensure client satisfaction, team performance and areas of improvement.
  • Understand project requirements such as OCIP/CCIP, tax exemptions, workforce and contract diversity goals, certified payrolls, etc.
  • Manage a team of Project Managers and Project Engineers at various levels; develop and train Project Engineers on construction best practices, SOPs, negotiations, and more. Conduct annual performance reviews.
  • Responsible for your team's performance and execution of projects within the group.
  • Responsible for the review of estimates/proposals for projects being performed and estimated within the group.
  • Review preconstruction planning schedule, supervising and approving final construction drawings, developing and/or approving design details.
  • Become a 100% fiscally self-sufficient team operation while assigning bids and monitoring workloads/resources.
  • Attend client meetings, networking events, conferences to integrate sales efforts with other organized marketing activities.
  • Safety responsibilities include monthly site audits, use of Zero application for tracking, creating site-specific safety plans and JHA's while ensuring that safety initiatives are followed on projects.
  • All other duties as assigned.


Experience and Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree Mechanical Engineering, Building Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering Technology or related major is required.
  • 10 years minimum experience working for a mechanical contractor with some level of managerial experience.
  • Involvement or exposure to strategic discussions.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience in Bluebeam a plus.
  • Experience in Penta, COINS, and OnBase a plus.
  • OSHA 30 Hour Card required; other safety certifications a plus.

  • Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, including clear and concise technical writing; also requires an ability to understand and use alternative modes of communication (face-to-face, phone, email, text, etc.) and when it's appropriate to use the varying methods.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and customer services skills, and maintain a positive attitude while dealing professionally with co-workers, clients, vendors, etc.
  • Must be able to work independently with limited supervision while still being a team player.
  • Must be dependable, organized and self-motivated.
