PURPOSE
As the Principal Test Engineer (Product Characterization), you will be a subject matter expert on probe card performance and use conditions. You will address difficult product application and performance issues, and you will be on the leading edge of new product development and introduction. You will work hand in hand with the product development teams to ensure that new products meet the performance needs of end customers and will provide expert on-site support when new products are ramped at customer sites.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and execute product performance tests to qualify new probe types and probe card architectures.
- Typical product test suites will include contact resistance, thermal response, cleaning recipe optimization, and product lifetime evaluation.
- Perform statistical based analysis of test results and provide performance feedback to the product design teams.
- Recommend design changes to enhance product performance.
- Use knowledge gained from internal testing to develop installation, test and support plans for new probe card products.
- Work closely with product development teams to ensure new products are optimized for end customer use conditions.
- Subject matter expert in probe card setup in customer test cell environment.
- Develop new product performance test methodologies and integrate required equipment.
- Create and execute specialized probe card performance tests to address special customer concerns and requirements.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical, Materials, Electrical Engineering or equivalent required
- Masters Degree Mechanical, Materials, or Electrical Engineering preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of work experience
- Working knowledge of Mechanical Engineering (understanding of thermal mechanical considerations and mechanical design)
- Hands-on experience with laboratory testing and designing experiments
- Strong background in Statistical Analysis, Failure Analysis and Process Engineering (DOE, 8D, FMEA, SPC, document control, etc.)
- Strong Communication, and Problem-Solving skills
- Available to travel up to 15% of the time for field commissioning and/or troubleshooting work (Domestic and International)
- Ability to work in a Class 1000 clean room environment
The pay range for this role in Livermore, CA is between $110,700 and $145,320. The pay range may differ in other locations. FormFactor maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs and market demands. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.
