Rapiscan, an OSI Systems Company is seeking a Manager, Product Quality Engineering, based out of Billerica, MA. Rapiscan is a leading supplier of end-to-end security inspection solutions, utilizing multiple technologies and advanced threat identification algorithms based on X-ray and high-speed computed tomography imaging, ion mobility spectrometry, radiation detection, and optical inspection technologies. The Principal Manufacturing Engineer position develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards; recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls; coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revised products. In addition, his role works closely with Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and Quality to identify and alleviate obstacles impacting Production. You will use and grow your technical skills, you will define and implement process improvements, you will generate and improve product documentation, develop fixtures, work with suppliers, and work on cross-functional teams. Responsibilities The Principal Manufacturing Engineer position develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing/production processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. He/she will recommend, manage, and lead the implementation of improvements to these processes, methods and controls. Activities typically include manufacturing process development and validation, troubleshooting and sustaining engineering, work cell/floor layout definition and creation, manufacturing launch of new or revised products and their transition into manufacturing; Developing assembly tooling and fixture design and continuous improvement of products and processes with emphasis on overall safety. In addition to working closely with floor assemblers, collaborating with the Engineering, Operations, and Quality departments will be essential to identify, alleviate, and ensure timely resolution of production and supply chain related issues. He/she must be a hands-on contributor with the ability to deliver business results in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. In this senior role, you will use your technical skills, you will define, lead, and implement process improvements, you will improve products and documentation, you will work with suppliers, and you will lead and participate on cross-functional teams.
