Job Summary

This internship provides a unique opportunity for an ambitious undergraduate or graduate student to immerse him/herself in the Finance segment of a major pharmaceutical company. The role is crafted to offer firsthand experience in basic finance operations, including fixed asset accounting, inventory accounting, and cost accounting. The intern will work closely with colleagues within the Finance organization and other functional areas such as engineering and manufacturing to support an initiative to streamline and simplify Wilson site fixed assets listings prior to emergence as Knoa Pharma. The Intern will also support an initiative to physically verify our engineering parts stockroom inventory and assist in identifying obsolete parts for disposal. These primary projects along with various ad-hoc projects that are aligned with the Company's values of Collaboration, Integrity, Courage, and Innovation will provide a unique opportunity for the candidate that is chosen.


Primary Responsibilities



  • Develop knowledge of roles and functions within the Finance organization, including Fixed Asset Accounting, Inventory Accounting, and Cost Accounting.
  • Assist with physical inventory count of the Wilson site engineering stockroom.
  • Prepare reconciliation of the stockroom physical count results to current stockroom listing and subledger.
  • Assist engineering and finance resources in identification of obsolete or unusable parts to be disposed.
  • Prepare support for journal entries required to adjust the stockroom balances to match the physical inventory and to dispose of any obsolete parts.
  • Assist with the clean-up of historic fixed asset listings by capital project. Work with finance and engineering resources to identify aged projects and associated fixed assets that are no longer in service. Match listings of current in-use machinery and equipment to corresponding capital projects where possible.
  • Prepare summaries to support journal entries required to remove remaining balances for projects and fixed assets that are no longer in service.
  • Provide cross-functional operational support on ad hoc requests and deliverables.


Education



  • Required: Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program.
  • Preferred: Accounting, Finance, or Business major.


Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Adaptable to a dynamic environment and the ability to work independently.
  • Effective research skills.
  • Able to collaborate effectively with cross functional team members and external partners.
  • Goal-oriented, project-oriented, and achievement-oriented.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple priorities for multiple stakeholders.
  • Desire to learn from others and build relationships across the organization.
  • Prior experience in (or exposure to) healthcare or the pharmaceutical industry a plus.


Additional Information

The position is an onsite position. Must have the ability to work 3-4 days per week preferably during core office hours of 9:00 am - 5:00 pm from Monday - Thursday for 8-10 weeks. Relocation is not offered for this position.
