Description
The Safety Manager provides technical safety and health support to field and corporate personnel. This
position develops corporate safety and health programs and objectives and coordinates safety training
programs, as well as monitors safety and health regulations to ensure compliance with federal and state
safety and health regulations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Safety Management
  • Provide field observations and suggestions regarding the corporate safety policies and
    Corporate Safety Plan.
  • Assist project superintendents and project managers in the development of Job Specific Safety
    Plans.
  • Conduct assigned safety audits in partnership with the project safety officers.
  • Provide immediate input, advice and direction to mitigate potential hazardous conditions and
    assure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements (e.g., signs, permits, postings).
  • Provide written report of field audits to superintendents.
  • Assist the project team to review upcoming work areas to preplan and determine if unidentified
    safety concerns need to be addressed before work begins.
  • Follow-up with project safety officers to assure that all mitigating actions have been taken.
  • Assist in OSHA project inspections.
  • Assure that project safety files & logs are maintained up to date.
  • Assure that all safety signs and supporting equipment are adequately supplied to assigned
    project sites.
  • Provide support and technical advice to project management/supervision team on all safety
    matters.
  • Attend and assist at weekly site safety meetings as needed and/or as requested.
  • Actively participate in industry organizations at committee level; represent the Company at
    networking functions, career fairs, trade shows, etc.
Safety Training
  • Attend as assigned all CWC in-house and external training programs.
  • Participate, as assigned, as an instructor in CWC continuing education programs.
  • Provide input to annual corporate safety-training program, and perform jobsite employee
    training as needed.
  • Participate in and conduct specific training programs, as well schedule specific training
    programs. (maintain required certifications).
  • Provide assistance regarding the system to maintain accurate records of employee safety training certifications.
  • Support implementation of safety incentive and awards programs.
Risk Management and Loss Reductions
  • Provide field observations and suggestions regarding opportunities to improve performance and
    lower insurance costs.
  • Assist with claims handling and their resolution.
  • Assist in injury and/or accident investigations and reporting.
  • Assist in returning and monitoring the progress of injured employees as they perform modified
    duty on our projects.
  • Implement record keeping requirements (e.g., Accident investigation reports, OSHA 300 log,
    Workers' Compensation reports).
  • Review and confirm current insurance certificates for Subcontractors intended to and/or
    currently working on our projects.
  • Use latest technology and software to complete projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Experience, and Special Skills Required
  • At least three (3) years of experience in applying safety procedures (i.e., manuals, audits,
    reports, checklists) for a general contractor subcontractor, or related engineering or
    environmental consulting firm
  • OSHA 30 Certification a must, OSHA 500 Certification a plus.
  • Experience working within the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
    regulations and other federal, state, local or special customer regulations that govern building
    construction and general contractor safety requirements.
  • Must have a good driving record that is clear of excessive and/or habitual traffic violations,
    points or accidents.
  • Safety Trained Supervisor Certification, Construction Site Safety Technician or equivalent (STS or
    CSST) required
Wage Transparency
In accordance with the Maryland Wage Transparency Law, the base salary range for this position is: $90,000.00 - $130,000.00

The determination of salary is based on the candidate's individual professional experience, qualification, education, skills, and training.
Job Demands
Individuals should be able to reach above and below, stoop and bend, sit, walk and stand. Individuals
should also be able to lift, carry and/or moving items up to 75lbs.
May be exposed to heavy machinery/equipment, hazardous chemicals and extreme weather conditions.
Minimum of 40 hours per week required. Works hours will vary depending on project requirements and may involve weekends and night work.
