ualr.edu/multicultural Summary of Job Duties:The Extra Help Assistant/Peer Mentor is responsible for assisting and supporting students with navigating college life. In this role, the Extra Help Assistant/Peer Mentor provides support and guidance to students in order to increase their success at UA Little Rock. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. Qualifications:
Required Education and/or Experience:
  • High school diploma or the formal education equivalent;

  • Currently enrolled as a UA Little Rock student;

  • At least one year of involvement with the Multicultural Center and/or the mentoring program.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a peer mentor and assist students with navigating college life;

  • Attend all mandatory training and meetings throughout the term;

  • Facilitate discussions with student mentees;

  • Become familiar with various resources on campus;

  • Inform supervisor of any student concerns;

  • Create and participate in opportunities to support student mentees;

  • Regularly attend Multicultural Center events;

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Strong time management and communication skills;

  • Display a fitting, cooperative, and approachable attitude and demeanor;

  • Communicate by effectively writing, listening, and speaking;

  • Ability to work with a diverse student, faculty, and staff population;

  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity;

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion;

  • Demonstrate flexibility in your approach to mentoring.
