PURPOSE: The Benefits Specialist will assist the Benefits and Compensation Manager with the administration of benefit and retirement programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, leaves of absence, health savings and flexible spending accounts, and 401k plans. This role will act as a liaison between employees and insurance vendors to resolve benefit related problems, ensure effective utilization of plans, and positive employee relations. Provides administrative support to Human Resources functions as needed. KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures the accuracy of all benefit enrollments into the HRIS and benefit systems to provide vendors with accurate eligibility and coverage information.
- Assists with new hire orientations
- Processes qualified life events and other enrollments within the benefit system
- Works closely with Payroll and Treasury to process bi-weekly funding for applicable benefits
- Reviews and processes billings from vendors, and advances for payment
- Resolves discrepancies with carriers, payroll and the company
- Acts as liaison with various insurance carriers and fosters effective relationships with client representatives
- Key resource for HR Business Partners to ensure understanding and compliance with benefits, Corporate/HR policies, and regulations
- Keeps management advised of potential problem areas and recommends/implements solutions as appropriate
- Assists with annual open enrollment period during 4th quarter of each year
- Assists with distribution of materials from carriers and communicating changes to employees and arranges for on-site representation by providers
- Completes reports for management as requested
- Performs other related duties, as assigned
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resources, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
- 3+ years of experience in the Benefits or Human Resources field preferred
- Must be proficient in Word and Excel
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCES:
- Familiarity with HRIS Systems (Dayforce, Peoplesoft, etc.)
- Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures

- Communication - Superior verbal/written skills and presentation skills
- Technical / Functional Expertise - Must be proficient in Word and Excel
