Job Description

Reporting to the Director, Digital Products, the Senior Product Owner plays a key role in driving the product strategy to fruition throughout the development of customer-facing digital product features and technical enhancements associated with Allstate Identity Protections (AIP) technology platform. The incumbent is expected to partner with business stakeholders, engineering teams, and digital product teams in a way that measurably drives value for our subscribers, partners, and business stakeholders.

AIP's Digital Product Managers/PO team, and overall work scope:




  • Our operational principles are rooted on a Product mindset and executed on agile principles. Our continuous discovery and maturity processes are governed by real data, including user behavior.



  • Besides having a robust business mindset, we are hyper sensible to the Subscriber (user persona) experience and Client (buyer persona) experience. We support different revenue channels and multiple business stakeholders with concurrent requirements.



  • Our backlogs are defined and prioritized against our roadmap. We forecast a 6-months roadmap based on our company's business goals and strategic direction, and we have a high level of predictability for the scope of the next 4 sprints across all scrum teams.



  • The Senior Product Owners are responsible for translating the company's strategy to execution.




    • Sr. PO's are assigned an Initiative. An initiative can have multiple domains associated. The Initiative Sr. PO is responsible to interact with stakeholders for each corresponding domain and manage cross team dependencies to drive success at the initiative level



    • Each Sr. PO directly interacts with a Scrum Team and is responsible for a specific domain of our platform.



    • Each Sr. PO is responsible for their Domain's backlog






Typical day to day work :




  • Elicit business requirements by having interactions with business stakeholders, compliance and security team members



  • Own an actionable backlog with INVESTable User Stories



  • Prioritize and sequence user stories execution on an iteration basis aligned with desired time-to-market requirements



  • Manage dependencies and cross-team communication



  • Radiate visibility of current state and next steps of initiatives



  • Represent the business for the Scrum Team



  • Participate in agile ceremonies and have an active role on them. Accentuating the leadership role in Backlog Refinement sessions




ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Execution of Product Strategy:




  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to define and advance a differentiated product strategy, ensuring it aligns with company goals and capabilities.



  • Distill product roadmap into specific and incremental product and platform initiatives, features, and enhancement for engineering teams to build and deliver.




Business Requirements, Story Development & Backlog Management




  • Continuously make use of product analytics, user research and stakeholder feedback to inform data-driven product improvements and iterations.Facilitate initiatives discovery & framing sessions across consumer journeys to identify where enabling technology (features) needs to be built and/or modified.



  • Engage with key business and technology stakeholders to gather technical and functional requirements, artifacts, documents, and acceptance criteria.



  • Own user story mapping and dependency mapping to capture and prioritize features based on user value and impact to OKR's.



  • Create clear, concise, value driven user stories, acceptance criteria, and other product requirements based upon product strategy and business needs.



  • Drive clarity through communication of priorities within the product backlog to eliminate unnecessary distractions for engineering teams while articulating how initiatives contribute to product vision and company value.




Sprint Planning and Execution:




  • Partner with engineering teams and stakeholders to align on lean business canvas, acceptance criteria, definition of ready, minimum viable product, and measurable outcomes to enable the successful delivery of multiple digital product teams.



  • Define, promote, and drive consistent demo culture to illustrate progress against intended outcomes across stakeholders at all levels.



  • Partner with stakeholders to measure and evaluate key performance and delivery metrics (key customer interactions, mean time to resolve, change success rate, release frequency).



  • Partner with User Experience teams to ensure a cohesive CX with a continuous assessment of user journey's friction points and design industry trends.



  • Partner with engineering teams to refine the prioritized user stories, ensuring compliance with the Definition of Ready.




Required Education, experiences, knowledge, skills & abilities




  • 5 or more years of experience as a software product owner in agile environments, focused on delivering digital product features and/or enhancements to IT Platforms.



  • Experience with the INVEST framework



  • Deep understanding of how product features integrate with internal and external IT platforms, systems, and API's.



  • Experienced in identifying root causes of issues and quickly moving to practical and holistic data-driven technical solutions.



  • Capable of prioritizing product features and platform enhancements based upon business value, customer needs, and technical constraints.



  • Expertise in managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders including product managers, engineering teams, and business leaders.



  • Familiar with software engineering best practices, including code review process, unit testing coverage, static analysis and how these affect the Definition of Done and estimation of user stories.




Preferred Education, experiences, knowledge, skills & abilities




  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of professional experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field



  • Experience working as a PO in Microservices and event driven architecture environments



  • Experience with Mobile applications



  • Domain driven design knowledge



  • Training or certification as a professional scrum product owner (PSPO) or certified scrum product owner (CSPO) or Pragmatic Institute Foundations is an advantage.



  • Prior experiences in Identity Protection, PII management, partner integrations, etc.




AIP Compensation:




  • The offered annual salary is between $120K and $130K only and eligible for up to 20% of annual salary as performance bonus.

Work Environment: Except for our Customer Care roles which necessitates onsite work, most other roles are remote. AIP is a remote-first company; however, our roles are open to in-office or flex work if you live in a city with a physical office location

Physical Demands: We primarily collaborate with our colleagues through virtual meetings and office collaboration tools. Employees will have to operate a laptop computer (PC or Mac available), computer software platforms, and other office productivity machinery, as necessary. Employees must be able to remain stationary for extended periods and must be able to observe and interpret written and/or verbal communication.
