Position Objective:

The Business Development Manager is responsible for providing commercial leadership for the cGMP Chemicals business. This role will oversee the development and execution of business development strategies to drive growth (from start-up status) from new customer programs, and working with the broader Life Sciences business will identify and expand market opportunities that align with the capabilities of the cGMP Chemicals business. The role will also partner closely with cGMP Chemicals site team to define and execute on the end market strategy, capability investment roadmap, and M&A strategy..

Responsibilities:


  • Leads Business Development efforts with a focus on Contract Manufacturing of Custom Chemical Formulations, Water for Injection (WFI), and Excipients opportunities.

  • Collaborates with Engineering & Operations leaders to ensure our technologies and processes are matched to the market opportunities available. Recommend enhancements across the business in the various processes that affect our ability to win, including (but not limited to) quoting, prototyping, project management, customer service / inside sales and manufacturing.

  • Develops and executes strategies to drive new program and revenue growth in targeted areas (from start-up).

  • Engages with customers to understand their objectives, requirements, and establish strong relationships with key decision-makers, facilitating participation in new opportunities.

  • Maintains regular contact with customers to nurture relationships, introduce new products and services, and gather feedback on existing offerings.

  • Advocates strategies to senior leadership, ensuring effective communication of additional offerings to enhance sales within the existing customer base.

  • Utilizes Salesforce to track the sales pipeline, document interactions, and identify future sales opportunities.

  • Demonstrates the ability to quickly qualify leads and uncover additional opportunities within a lead.

  • Provides valuable feedback to Marketing, Engineering, and Operations teams regarding potential capability or product claim enhancements and emerging market trends.

  • Offers insights on pricing and competitive activities to key decision-makers to maintain a competitive edge.

  • Participates in pre-contract discussions with customers, including involvement in understanding user requirements, regulatory requirements, and Terms and Conditions negotiations.

  • Works closely with Engineering and Operations teams on non-recurring engineering and validation cost estimates, commercial production cost estimates, and quoting.

  • Continually identifies market trends and opportunities for organic and inorganic growth. Works closely with President on identification and execution of M&A opportunities.

  • Collaborate across the various functions and bring them along for the journey of developing a growth strategy for this business, while improving employee engagement.

  • Demonstrated strong time management skills; able to handle multiple tasks, set priorities and meet deadlines

  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset, with strong intellectual curiosity




Requirements
:


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Microbiology or Chemistry, or a related field and a minimum of 5 years experience; or Ten (10) years' experience in related field.




Additional Experience Desired:


  • Experience in contract Manufacturing for medical devices and/or custom cGMP chemical solutions highly desired

  • Experience and familiarity with relevant IPEC and USP standards desired.


  • Experience in Food Grade applications a plus.




Travel & Work Arrangements/Requirements
:


  • This position will be based at our Lillington, North Carolina office.



Ability to travel domestically and internationally (20%+). Position requires travel to the manufacturing sites in the net
