Description

Summary of Position/Purpose:

The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for overseeing the company's overall payment functions and the day-to-day operations of Accounts Payable personnel. This role involves working closely with leaders and managers across the business to ensure that all necessary payments are made accurately and timely. The Accounts Payable Manager will oversee the accuracy of vendor payment terms and methods, follow up on past due accounts, and coordinate with others to resolve any issues. Additionally, this position serves as an intermediary between payment activities and the Accounting department. The role operates under limited supervision and requires initiative, confidentiality, and independent judgment in the performance of tasks.

Essential Duties, Functions and/or Responsibilities:



  • Manage the overall payment processes to ensure timely and accurate payments.
  • Lead and support the accounts payable team in their daily operations.
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors, ensuring payment terms and methods are accurate.
  • Follow up on past due accounts and coordinate with other departments to resolve payment issues.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements and support financial reporting activities.
  • Serve as an intermediary between payment activities and the accounting department.
  • Implement and optimize efficient processes to enhance the payment cycle.
  • Operate under limited supervision, exercising initiative, confidentiality, and independent judgment.
  • Provide training and development opportunities for the AP team to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
  • Indirectly responsible for product quality
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:



  • Bachelor's Degreein Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experiencein accounts payable or a related financial role.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or management experiencein accounts payable.
  • Experience in Distribution and Manufacturingindustries is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with accounting software(e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principlesand practices, including GAAP.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage vendor relationshipsand resolve payment issues effectively.
  • Experience with process improvementand implementing efficient payment processes.

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions in accordance with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
