Garry Weber APP Urology Fellowship Opportunity - Clinical Track

Are you wanting to practice to your fullest potential? Does a mentoring relationship with experienced PAs and world class Urologists interest you? The Garry Weber APP Urology Fellowship Program may be what you are looking for!

Established in 2011, our 12-month program will provide you with a vast and diverse exposure to the field of Urology. Your training will include inpatient management, outpatient clinic activities, observing in the OR, and urologic procedure training. Didactic activities included weekly conferences, Grand Rounds, monthly journal clubs, and various CME conferences.

The Department of Urology at UT Southwestern Medical Center is a leader in patient care, in research, and in educating the physicians of tomorrow. U.S. News & World Report consistently ranks us among the best urology departments in the nation in its annual hospital rankings.

Program Strengths

* Close APP-M.D. mentoring relationship with some of the most respected Urologists in the world

* Well-established didactic program (weekly pre-operative conference and grand rounds, monthly journal club and M&M conference, and attendance at national specialty conferences)

* Vast and diverse training in the field of urology, including exposure to the emergency room and inpatient activities at Clements University Hospital, as well as time in the operating room with an exceptional group of Urology APPs and skilled Urology surgeons.

Training Details

Our one-year training program is divided into two sections:

* The first section (six months) is spent learning about the main subspecialty areas of urology. This will include rotations in BPH/LUTS (Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia, Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms), Kidney Stone Disease and Mineral Metabolism, Urologic Oncology, FPMRS (Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery), Neurourology, and Reconstructive Urology, Prosthetics, and Trauma. During these rotations the fellow will spend time observing applicable surgeries as well.

* The second section allows growing autonomy while seeing and managing patients at our state-of-the art ambulatory care clinic and at Clements University Hospital.

The APP is expected to attend and actively participate in weekly Urology Pre-Op conferences and Grand Rounds, monthly Urology Journal Clubs, the annual Paul C. Peters Urology Symposium hosted by the Urology Department, and various other educational activities throughout the year.
