We are seeking an experienced Senior Staff Consultant to provide expertise in overseeing IT operations and ensuring the successful execution of a Department of Defense (DoD) Air Force (AF) cybersecurity contract. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in IT management, leadership, and a deep understanding of DoD enterprise infrastructure, governance, cybersecurity policies, and procedures. This position requires a candidate with a proven track record of managing complex cybersecurity projects, particularly within the DoD or similar federal organizations.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Senior Staff Consultant: Pay commensurate with experience.

Senior Staff Consultant Responsibilities Include:



  • Supervise and direct the efforts of other staff members on complex cybersecurity IT projects, ensuring successful completion and compliance with project timelines and objectives.
  • Provide strategic leadership in managing the Air Force or DoD enterprise infrastructure, ensuring adherence to security and governance policies, with a focus on cybersecurity best practices.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and enforcement of Information Assurance Management (IAM) policies and procedures within the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD and Air Force IT governance, policies, and procedures across all cybersecurity projects and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to drive the execution of IT and cybersecurity projects, aligning them with DoD regulations, Zero Trust security models, and NIST cybersecurity guidelines.
  • Manage and mentor a team of IT professionals, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous development.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned



Senior Staff Consultant Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:



  • Bachelor's degree in IT or a related field.
  • IAM Level II certification or an equivalent credential in information assurance management.
  • * Experience: Minimum of 4 years of IT experience, including:

    • Supervising and directing the efforts of other staff members on complex IT and cybersecurity projects.
    • Extensive experience working with Air Force or DoD enterprise infrastructure, governance, cybersecurity policies, and procedures.
    • Proven ability to manage the implementation of security policies, IT governance, and cybersecurity practices within a DoD environment.

  • Experience in supervising and directing teams, with a demonstrated ability to lead cybersecurity projects and deliver results in complex environments.
  • In-depth understanding of DoD infrastructure, cybersecurity standards, and Zero Trust security models, with a focus on compliance and risk management. Knowledge of NIST cybersecurity frameworks is highly beneficial.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with senior leaders and key stakeholders across various departments and agencies.
  • Proven ability to manage, mentor, and develop teams of IT professionals, ensuring high levels of performance and engagement.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
