This position requires an active TS/Sensitive Compartmental Information (SCI) clearance.

We are seeking an experienced and highly qualified Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide technical expertise for a Department of Defense (DoD) Air Force (AF) contract. This role requires extensive experience in IT management, security, and the development of enterprise information technology capabilities. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of DoD and Air Force IT systems, policies, and procedures, with a strong background in supporting DoD infrastructure and security frameworks, particularly in relation to the rollout and road mapping of IT capabilities.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Subject Matter Expert (SME): Pay commensurate with experience.

Subject Matter Expert (SME) Responsibilities Include:



  • Provide expert advice and technical guidance on IT infrastructure, policies, and procedures in line with DoD and Air Force requirements.
  • Manage and support IT operations within DoD enterprise systems, ensuring compliance with security and operational standards.
  • Work closely with leadership to implement and enforce IT security policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other DoD agencies, federal stakeholders, and contractors to ensure successful project execution.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, Air Force IT practices, and federal regulations to provide the best solutions.
  • Mentor and support junior IT staff, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Manage IT security incidents, ensuring quick resolution and maintaining compliance with all security protocols.
  • Additional Task 4 Responsibilities:

    • Maintain a thorough knowledge of DoD & Intel Zero Trust Architecture, ensuring alignment with modern security practices.
    • Implement and monitor the effectiveness of Zero Trust frameworks across DoD systems.
    • Provide thought leadership on Zero Trust principles, guiding the design and security of DoD IT infrastructure.
    • Lead efforts to integrate Zero Trust architecture into existing IT systems, improving security and reducing risk.

  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned


Subject Matter Expert (SME) Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:



  • Bachelor's degree in IT or a related field.
  • Certified CSSP or IAT Level III certification, or an equivalent cybersecurity certification.
  • Minimum of 8 years of IT experience, including:
  • Experience with DoD or Air Force enterprise infrastructure, policies, and procedures.
  • Supporting large-scale IT systems and ensuring compliance with DoD security and operational standards.
  • Developing and executing capability roll-out plans and IT roadmaps in the context of DoD requirements.
  • Collaboration with cross-functional teams to meet DoD and federal agency objectives.
  • Extensive experience in IT infrastructure, security, and management, particularly within the DoD or federal agencies.
  • In-depth understanding of DoD & Intel Zero Trust Architecture and its implementation in modern enterprise systems.
  • Understanding of DoD security protocols, including IAM and CSSP frameworks.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with experience working across multiple agencies and stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze complex IT challenges and provide effective, secure solutions in high-pressure environments.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
