TSC is looking for an experienced Production Director to join our team in Huntsville, A (Discovery) with experience in manufacturing advanced RF-based payloads & sensor systems throughout the product lifecycle.This role operates in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, overseeing production functions to ensure high-quality products while achieving key business objectives in cost, quality, customer service, compliance, and delivery. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a best-practice manufacturing vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to enhance operational performance.
- Lead production control activities, including master scheduling, production planning, material planning, shop scheduling, and work-in-process tracking.
- Effectively manage daily, weekly, and monthly production targets, ensuring alignment with customer specifications, quality, and delivery expectations while minimizing costs.
- Oversee plant production operations, ensuring an orderly, productive workflow that meets customer requirements.
- Ensure target productivity levels are met daily and update the production plan accordingly.
- Coordinate with other departmental managers to maintain efficient stock throughput and meet production goals.
- Direct production testing teams to uphold company standards and quality objectives.
- Conduct root cause analysis to identify and resolve production issues, driving continuous improvement.
- Identify and allocate technical skill sets, resources, and systems to successfully execute projects, engaging external resources as needed.
- Assist in evaluating test equipment purchases and oversee the maintenance of production equipment, ensuring minimal downtime through preventive maintenance programs.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies to protect employees and visitors.
- Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on the progress and performance of ongoing productions.
- Ensure alignment with engineering leadership during product transition
- Enable compliance with configuration management practices
- Participate in and lead meetings, execute action items, and communicate key directives.
- Produce written reports and presentations on production performance and improvement strategies.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning, training, and development for the production team.
- Ensure the continuous improvement of production processes, implementing best practices and innovative solutions
- Report on manufacturing efficiency metrics periodically to senior management to enable effective cost management
- This role requires strong leadership, strategic planning, and the ability to drive operational excellence in a manufacturing environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related field and 16 or more years of industry experience in a supervisory role
- US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD secret clearance
- Understanding of manufacturing technologies, machinery, and production processes Knowledge of safety standards and regulations
- Proficiency in production management software and tools (both PLM and MES).
- Exceptional understanding of business operations and program management recurring tasks, reports, and workflows across supporting functional areas and operational teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with quality assurance protocols, ensuring products meet specifications and standards
- Recent DoD product manufacturing experience and understanding of DoD Quality Requirements
- In-depth understanding of workplace safety regulations (e.g., OSHA standards)
- Lean Manufacturing Certification, Certified Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or Certified Manufacturing Technologist (CMfgT) a plus
- Experience outlining and executing project objectives, goals, milestones, and completion
- Previous experience and knowledge with US Government compliance for timekeeping and expense reports, contract clauses, or similar governance
- Comfortable serving as focal point for coordinating with multiple geographically separated work centers in different time zones to achieve time sensitive deadlines for products, work plans, or deliverables
- Strong attention to detail; excellent organization, planning skills, and verbal and written communication
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and get along with others
- Ability to quickly learn new scope of work and grow with a scaling team
