Performs academic advising, educational, professional, or other basic academic advising or training at the individual or group level as appropriate. Work is performed under supervision with performance based on individual advising effectiveness and overall program results obtained.

Major/Essential Functions
Advising and Support:
  • Works directly with the program director and the program coordinator on project planning and implementation.
  • Assist students in understanding institutional resources.
  • Conduct one-on-one advising sessions to assess self-efficacy towards degree completion.
  • Develop personalized work force integration or advancement plans that align with students' interests and career aspirations.
Academic Planning:
  • Guide students to identify tutoring or other resources to improve study habits and grades.
  • Monitor students' academic performance and provide strategies for improvement, when necessary, beyond what is already provided within each school.
Resource Coordination:
  • Connect students with campus resources, including tutoring, counseling, and career services.
  • Provide resource information or referrals on academic skills, time management, and study strategies.
  • Supports the Title V Program Coordinator in facilitating mentor/mentee activities.
Retention and Success Initiatives:
  • Identify at-risk students and develop intervention strategies to enhance retention.
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to support student engagement and success initiatives.
Assessment and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate records of advising sessions and student progress.
  • Collects and reports data related to student performance and retention to inform advising practices.
Professional Development:
  • Stay current with academic advising best practices and trends in higher education.
  • Participate in training sessions and professional organizations related to academic advising.


Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; one year related experience preferred.
