Job Description The Field Service Technician Lead is responsible for testing, maintaining, replacing, and upgrading electrical equipment. This position works in the field as well as the shop and will be subjected to weekend work, frequent overtime during outage season, and some overnight travel. The lead role is also responsible for overseeing junior technicians and implementing our company's guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Work directly with customers to help determine needs of testing and maintenance.
Load tap Changer (LTC) experience all makes and models (GE, McGraw-Edison, Federal Pioneer, Rienhaussen) at least 3 years' experience
- Assist customer with planning scheduled maintenance/testing work.
- Lead technicians in the field. Act as project foreman
- Provide testing and maintenance services to customer's electrical equipment.
- Read schematics and possessing the ability to troubleshoot using schematics is a plus.
- Be able to operate all aspects of test equipment (Megger, Ductor, Power Factor, TTR, AC/DC HIPot, etc.).
- Terminate and splice medium voltage cables.
- Help maintain test equipment and make sure equipment is in working order.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code and various industry standards, such as OSHA and NFPA.
- Strong background and experience in most types of switchgear testing
- Good theoretical understanding of electrical power systems, and good aptitude for problem evaluation.
- Complete projects consistently on budget and at a reasonable contribution.
- Able to write detailed reports and process project billing with few changes.
- Communicate effectively, writing and verbally, with clients and peers.
- Good judgment, dependable, responsible for management of large projects that require good supervisory and organizational skills.
- Strong computer skills including editing, formatting, and using templates in Microsoft Word, use of Internet for standards/products/manufacturer research and operation of computer-controlled test equipment.
- Willing to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays and night work.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear, and smell.
- Frequently required to sit, climb and balance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move 100-pound test sets.
- Valid Driver's License.
