Overview

Manages the administration and analysis of the organization's benefits programs including health and welfare, retirement and voluntary benefit plans in order to maintain compliance with company objectives, current legislation and approved standards of practice.



Responsibilities

    Administers all aspects of the organization's benefits programs including health and welfare, retirement and voluntary benefit plans
  • Analyzes the current benefits, evaluating the utilization, services, coverage, effectiveness, cost, plan experience, and competitive trends in benefits programs
  • Functions as a liaison between vendors and employees and advises employees on complex eligibility, coverage and other benefits matters
  • Researches, recommends and designs new benefit programs and monitors benefit administration systems and processes
  • Provides analytical and technical support in the delivery of the benefit programs with the goal of improving the management of existing programs
  • Develops communication strategies on benefit programs and offerings
  • Evaluates and revises internal benefit management processes to reduce costs, increase efficiency and improve service
  • Documents and maintains administrative procedures for internal and external benefit plan management
  • Audits benefit/payroll processing systems to resolve complex issues
  • Prepares, collects, and organizes data for actuarial assessment and audits
  • Organizes the implementation of broad benefit management projects including annual open enrollment, reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions.


Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of health and welfare, retirement benefits administration or related experience; or equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND DESIGNATIONS:

CEBS or HR certification preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to act independently and exercise good judgment
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in benefits programs and laws governing benefits ensuring compliance
  • Strong analytical skills with consultative approach in resolving complex issues while ensuring compliance to established standards
  • Ability to manage complex projects from start to finish
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with both internal and external customers (including service providers)
  • Ability to complete analyses and prepare and facilitate presentations to all levels of the organization
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office applications including Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of UKG Human Resources Information System (HRIS).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (up to 20 pounds).
