Job Summary: Coordinates the instrumentation needs of the OR, ensuring instruments are properly maintained and available when needed. Description of Job Responsibilities: 1. Coordination of instrumentation needed based upon OR schedule. 2. Responsible for coordinating refurbishment of damaged instrumentation. 3. Make recommendations to SPD leadership for future instrument orders based on analysis of past tray builds and usages. 4. Independently determines appropriate container size for instrument containers, assess needs for custom-made instrument carriers, weigh and assemble instrument sets according to AAMI standards. 5. Assist OR team leaders with open instrumentation projects, building instrument trays if needed for coverage, documenting manufacturer recommendations, and getting new trays into circulation. Identify and suggest costsaving approaches to storage and purchasing of inventory. 6. Serve as an instrument expert and resource for staff related to instrument needs. 7. Works to ensure trays are available for routine use by getting trays back into circulation. 8. Attends/conducts instrument tray optimization/reduction meetings. 9. Maintains a well-organized instrument storage area, controlling and managing peel-pouched instrumentation. 10. Maintains database of instruments ordered for services provided 11. Maintain inventory/supplies for instruments 12. Perform QA audits on instrument trays and case carts as needed (as needed) Education Requirements: None required as long as other position qualifications are met.
