Summary

Supervisor, Generation Projects | Gas & Oil:

The Supervisor, Generation Projects is responsible for overseeing the execution and delivery of capital projects within an assigned business unit, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and industry best practices. This role manages project lifecycles, including planning, execution, and reporting, while collaborating with internal teams and third-party service providers to drive efficiency, safety, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities & Skills:

Project Management & Oversight: Lead the execution of capital projects, ensuring scope, budget, and schedules are defined, monitored, and adjusted as needed.

Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination: Manage relationships with third-party service providers, internal teams, and key stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.

Budget & Resource Allocation: Oversee resource assignments, control project expenditures, and validate financial reporting to align with business objectives.

Risk Management & Compliance: Identify and mitigate project risks while ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and environmental standards.

Performance Tracking & Reporting: Provide detailed project updates, performance assessments, and post-project evaluations to measure success against stakeholder expectations.

We are looking for professionals with experience in:



  • Project management within the utilityindustry
  • Engineering, construction, or operations experience in capital projects
  • Vendor management and contract negotiation
  • Budgeting, forecasting, and financial oversight in large-scale projects
  • Risk assessment and regulatory compliance in industrial settings

Minimum Requirements

Supervisor, Generation Projects | Gas & Oil





  • A four-year bachelor's degree in: Business, Engineering, Construction Management or other job-related field from an accredited college or university



  • Five (5) years of experience in Project Management, Engineering, construction management and/or other job-related field



  • In lieu of a bachelor's degree, a combination of education and/or experience in Project Management, Engineering, Construction Management and/or other job-related field equaling 9 years



  • Knowledge of project management processes, principles and methodologies



  • Experience in contract development and negotiation strategies



  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel, departments and organizations



  • Proven leadership, communication and organizational skills



  • Competency using Microsoft PC Office products



  • Travel may be required




Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:




  • Previous supervisor experience



  • PMP certification



  • Experience with Microsoft Project or similar project management critical path method information systems, Maximo, Material Logistics Information System (MLIS), Power Plant, engineering document control systems and/or SharePoint



  • Experience with project management of power plant projects



  • Experience in directing multi-discipline teams



Major Accountabilities

1) Oversees multiple projects at one or more of the business unit's locations.

In some cases, may utilize the resources of an Engineering Service Provider (ESP) and third-party construction contractors in accordance with established work processes and procedures.

Oversees the implementation of capital projects from initial project approval through design, bidding, construction and project close-out.

2) Oversees project deliverables, including scope, cost and schedule and ensures information accurately reflects cash flow and invoicing schedules to the key business unit stakeholders.

Ensures project deliverables are in support of meeting planned outage milestones and budget cost control.

Reports on a monthly or more frequent basis on projects' status to ensure overall project goals, schedules and budget remain on schedule.

3) Identifies capital portfolio risks.

Develops and communicates risk mitigation plans.

4) Develops and reports appropriate metrics such as project status and progress.

Resolves operational issues within the department.

Provides guidance and leadership to the project management team, project team members and project stakeholders.

5) Responsible for staffing, training, salary administration and performance management of personnel.

Communicates information and requirements to staff and ensures operational decisions comply with policies.

6) Validates work executed complies with standard design criteria and equipment specifications.

Ensures change management plans are developed to minimize impact and disruption to business operations and customers.

Performs project post-implementation reviews and analysis to assess success of project execution.

Role Type:

Hybrid: Employees in hybrid roles work both in their home offices (virtually) and alongside their colleagues (in person).

In order for employees to build strong relationships and to promote meaningful in-person interactions, hybrid employees are expected to work about 40% of their time in-person at an APS or other (non-home office) location.

*Employees are expected to reside in Arizona (or New Mexico for Four Corners-based employees).

*Working from a home office requires adequate technology and an appropriate ergonomic set up.
