IEM is looking to bring on a Full Time - Director of Recovery, are you up to the challenge? Primary Location:
- Candidates can originate from anywhere in the United States- Mainland or Puerto Rico.
- Your workplace will either be in the field, in an office environment, or remote from a personal location and will depend on the need of the project.
Travel Requirements:
- Once hired you will travel across the United States- Mainland or Puerto Rico to client sites as needed.
- Daily travel and other expenses are reimbursable in accordance with Federal Travel Regulations or DoD Regulations.
Essential Functions:
- Provides subject matter expertise in FEMA PA program development and implementation, offering executive advisory services on federal regulations (e.g., 44 CFR, Public Assistance Alternative Procedures, Benefit Cost Analysis, Stafford Act), cross-cutting federal requirements, financial management, and documentation requirements and translating these into the implementation of projects.
- Builds and sustains strong, credible relationships with key government agencies (federal, state, and local), private sector partners, and community organizations, and provide high-level recovery consultation and technical guidance to support these agencies.
- Mentors recovery teams to ensure effective service delivery and engages leadership to strategically grow the business, demonstrating entrepreneurial skill in pursuing new project awards and leveraging existing engagements for sustainable revenue growth.
- Remains well-informed related to regulatory developments, industry dynamics, and business challenges, and leverages this knowledge to focus on repeat client business.
- Leads capture teams in developing winning proposals and marketing materials, creates key written products for program implementation, and is recognized as an industry expert through presentations at seminars, conferences, and business meetings.
- Manages overall client expectations to contribute to a high level of client satisfaction and leverages regulatory insights and industry trends to drive repeat business.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ten (10) or more years of in-depth and hands-on knowledge of FEMA PA programs, regulations, and implementation.
- Five (5) years of experience in a leadership position, leading staff responsible for FEMA PA programs.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a highly collaborative environment in professional services.
- Experience leading multi-discipline delivery teams for local, state, and federal clients.
- Willingness to travel approximately 50-75% depending on role and project needs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor or Master Degree within a relevant field such as emergency management, disaster recovery, engineering, construction, accounting, business administration, or public administration.
- Professional licenses and/or certifications (Certified Emergency Manager, Project Management Professional, Professional Engineer, Registered Architect, etc.)
- Experience in an emergency management consulting environment, with a demonstrated history of client engagements and driving business growth in response services.
Additional Location and Travel Information:
- Office Locations: Office locations are often either owned by the client we work with or by IEM. All candidates are expected to follow any rules and regulations of the office in which they are required to work for that project.
- Remote Work: All remote work environments require the ability to maintain minimum Internet speeds of 25 Mbps upload and 3 Mbps download, as well as a ping rate of 100 ms or less during working hours, regardless of the type and number of devices using your Internet connection. You must also have account privileges and access to your Internet service provider account during working hours for the purposes of maintaining the Internet connection, if needed.
- Situational Awareness: During site assessments, conditions may be austere including prolonged exposure to excessive heat and cold, prolonged sun exposure and no electricity, heat or air conditioning. Other potential risks include air quality issues, standing water, mosquitos, snakes, debris and other potential exposures.
- Physical Requirements: Site assessments may require extensive walking and standing for long periods of time; working in small spaces, tunnels and ditches; climbing ladders.
