The successful candidate:
The Cook is responsible for preparing quality, nutritious, attractive, and appealing food and beverage products for customers and patients under specialized care. The Cook ensures alignment with the organization's established Food and Dietetic nutritional guidelines, complies with all applicable sanitation, health, and personal hygiene standards, and completes other daily tasks assigned by leadership.

License/ Certification/ Permit:
Currently dated Food Handler's Permit from County/State Health Department in which you reside if required by the state (Required in AZ). ServeSafe Preferred
Certification from an American National Standards Institute (ANSI) food handler training accredited program or obtained within 30 days of employment (Required in IL). ServeSafe preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong customer services skills
Ability to work well on a team
Basic computer knowledge including Microsoft Office suite
Strong attention to detail and organizational and time management skills,
Ability to be flexible, adapting to changing conditions in a fast-paced environment
60% Food & Beverage Production
Utilize the Culinary department's established recipes, production sheets, and diet orders to prepare food and beverage items for various services including, and not limited to, the cafe hot line, buffet, grill, catered functions, and special requests.
Ensure appropriate nutritional content by following the organization's established food and dietetic nutritional guidelines.
Is kind and courteous when answering customer questions, maintaining a high level of customer services and satisfaction
15% Food Storage & Monitoring
Ensures proper food storage procedures are followed in accordance with ServSafe, and other established guidelines. Label, date, and store food correctly to avoid waste and spoilage.
Clean and clear area after food preparation, and cooking process to provide sanitary working conditions.
15% Sanitation and Temperature Validation
Ensures proper sanitation of entire workstation and area, hand hygiene, guest contact surfaces and as instructed by leadership using ServSafe as reference.
Ensures pre-opening and closing cleaning tasks are assigned and completed as required.
Utilize ServSafe, and other established guidelines, to monitor and validate all temperature-controlled equipment, ensure all patient and buffet meals are served at appropriate temperatures and logged on temperature sheet/ temperature log adherence.
Secure work, checks refrigerator doors, freezer doors, shits down equipment before kitchen facilities close.
