General Description:
The EES Department within HRL's Microfabrication Technology Laboratory (MTL) is responsible for the installation, preventative maintenance, and repair of all HRL FAB & Lab related equipment, covering multiple sites. Our primary mission is to provide equipment engineering support for semiconductor manufacturing equipment across 8 process/production modules (Photo, Deposition, Metals, Wet Etch, Dry Etch, Metrology, MBE, and Post Process).
This internship opportunity will have a primary focus of working inside a semiconductor R&D laboratory, alongside Sr. level equipment engineers, utilizing technical writing to create (and edit) work instructions, establish (define, chart, report) baseline Statistical Process Controls (SPC), develop effective Out-of-Control Action Plans (OCAPs) for common failure modes and perform preventative maintenance tasks on process equipment as required.
Essential Duties:
Work in a Class 10(ISO-4) Cleanroom environment.
Heavy focus will be applied toward technical writing (maintenance and PM documentation/work instruction).
Perform audit on current documentation and procedures.
Work with Sr. level engineers to optimize tool uptime through the effective use of OCAPs, SPC, and response time metrics.
Participate in continuous improvement efforts geared toward eliminating waste, improving overall tool uptime.
Provide support in the recovery of semiconductor manufacturing equipment from advanced tool related failures (initial assessment, general troubleshooting, system resets, etc..).
Required Skills:
Demonstrated ability to accurately capture and confidently report on all details associated with the scope, progress, and completion of all assigned projects.
Proficiency in establishing and integrating basic SPC, OCAP, and FMEA related protocols is a plus.
Must be able to work independently and within a team to meet project milestones.
Should be proficient in technical writing (maintenance and PM documentation/work instruction).
Should have familiarity in common root cause corrective action (RCCA) methodologies.
Will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Required Education:
Currently enrolled in a bachelor's program in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar discipline.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to work in an ISO Class 4 cleanroom and facility equipment rooms.
Must be able to lift/push/pull 25-30 pounds consistently and up to 50lbs occasionally.
Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Special Requirements:
U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status required.
Ability to obtain a security clearance is a plus.
Compensation:
The pay range for this position is $30 - $35 per hour.
