Ecolab, the global leader in premium cleaning, sanitizing and maintenance products and services for the hospitality, institutional and industrial markets is seeking a Principal Lab Technician. This role is responsible for acting as a liaison between lab technicians and exempt members of the quality department, ensuring smooth operations and adherence to quality control standards. The individual in this role will be the senior-most member of the lab and will play a key role in setting the tone for a positive and productive work environment, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. They will provide oversight of daily lab operations and deliver full support to protect production schedule adherence. This role will be responsible for facilitating seamless communication, ensuring lab staff is adhering to best laboratory practices, confirming compliance of all developed processes and test methods, maintaining equipment, ordering supplies, sustaining housekeeping & 5S efforts, and maintaining health and safety regulations.

What You Will Do:

  • Support analytical testing for all required chemical raw materials, semi-finished good products, and finished good products that is required for product release.
  • Support product failure investigation by analyzing product mix, support documentation, and collaborate with production staff and/or Quality Engineers to determine potential root cause and adjustments, as needed.
  • Assist in product non-conformances and customer complaint investigations as needed.
  • Oversee daily lab operations, ensuring lab staff is adhering to best laboratory practices and in compliance with all developed processes and test methods.
  • Ensure completion of all requested innovation and product improvement and development projects which are led and requested by RD&E, Corporate Quality, and/or local management.
  • Ensure all laboratory records are properly maintained and in compliance with corresponding ELPPs (Ecolab Lab Practice Procedures).
  • Protect integrity of lab results by confirming all methods are precisely conducted per QATM (Quality Assurance Test Methods) and ELPPs.
  • Properly store and maintain product retains.
  • Develop & lead process improvement efforts that allows the lab to function optimally and efficiently, while minimizing laboratory method errors. Drive improvements through constant engagement & project participation (5S, TPM).
  • Ensure all quality specification requirements are held and met prior to product release.
  • Manage all lab equipment calibration program and required PMs.
  • Manage lab supply stock, including consumables, reagents, and standards.
  • Maintain a 5S environment in and around the lab, including product retain room and lab break room.
  • Ensure all safety protocols and PPE requirements are being followed, and proactively identify issues that impact safety, quality, and productivity. Identify any near misses and participate in audits.
  • Mentor & support less senior QC lab technicians.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Position Details:

  • Plant location: Carrollton, TX
  • Work week and shift: Monday - Thursday 6:30am - 5:30pm (OT on Fridays, per business needs)
  • Compensation package offered: $31.00 / hour

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in engineering, chemical, or a relevant technical discipline.
  • 4 years of wet chemistry lab experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in a pharmaceutical, chemical, food, or beverage industry.
  • Experience in an ISO 9001/GMP manufacturing environment.
  • No immigration sponsorship available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, chemical engineering, or relevant science discipline.
  • Proficiency and expertise in utilizing, calibrating, and maintaining technical laboratory equipment.
  • Leadership experience
  • Experience with statistical methods for data analysis and trending.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience with SAP system.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, including excellent oral and technical writing capabilities.
  • Ability to perform well in a team-driven atmosphere, with the ability to work independently.
  • Positive mindset, attitude, and a passion for providing high quality work.

Annual or Hourly Compensation Range

The pay range for this position is $56,200.00 - $84,400.00. Many factors are taken into consideration when determining compensation, such as experience, education, training, geography, etc. We comply with all minimum wage and overtime laws.
