Position Overview

The Associate Director, Strategic Sourcing - Supply Chain leads the overall management of the Supply Chain Strategic Sourcing team, managing the execution of sourcing for spend categories supporting Exact Sciences Operations, R&D, and Clinical Lab teams. This role is an architect of corporate supplier relationships, responsible for identifying external partner suppliers through market analysis and accountable for developing, executing, and managing associated category strategies. The Assoc Director, Strategic Sourcing - Supply Chain provides guidance and leadership to the team, cross functional partners and other Supply Chain and business functions as it relates to processes, sourcing discipline and engagement of team resources. This role engages and influences senior and executive level leaders through advisory councils and core team participation. The scope and focus of work will vary and require working with a diverse team of cross-functional stakeholders and executives. Areas of focus include supplier negotiations, leadership influence, category analysis, supplier due diligence, and contract creation.

Essential Duties

Include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Oversee team responsible for overall for external supplier spend related to all aspects of R&D, Operations, and Clinical lab.
  • Manage external suppliers on behalf of the corporation to negotiate long-term, enterprise-wide relationships and contracts.
  • Oversee category budget initiatives while balancing risk, overall product availability, quality, and ability to change factors.
  • Manage category budgets ensuring savings targets are met.
  • Proactively lead category-level sourcing strategy through executive influence and stakeholder engagement.
  • Drive cultural change within Company to aggressively manage operational resources.
  • Execute strategic sourcing process that leverages company-wide economies of scale.
  • Lead development of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and related Service Level Credits (SLCs) for critical suppliers as part of contract negotiations to ensure performance obligations are being met or exceeded.
  • Manage team involvement or assignment to projects that evaluate backup and alternate suppliers based on business needs.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of quality requirements needed for Direct suppliers and application in sourcing and due diligence processes; ability to support team understanding/application of requirements during sourcing activities.
  • Develop and implement category management strategies across spend categories supporting Operations, R&D, and Clinical Labs. Advise on category charter, and category execution plans.
  • Monitor overall category strategy development and implementation, suggest changes to the strategy in line with the changing business environment and related supplier markets. Partner with supplier management and related business owners to identify and resolve emerging issues with suppliers.
  • Develop and continuously improve contract process and outcomes in partnership with contract administration team.
  • Provide updates to stakeholders to ensure awareness of ongoing initiatives and projects within sourcing.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with budget and business owners.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally across Supply Chain organization to ensure alignment to best practices.
  • Manage sourcing team resources and ensure competency development.
  • Identify and build new supplier relationships to ensure Exact Sciences is on the forefront of new trends and supplier/technology opportunities.
  • Lead enterprise-critical contract negotiation with strategic supplier leadership to meet budget and risk mitigation objectives.
  • Supervise staff; including, but not limited to, organize, and prioritize work, write/conduct performance reviews, train/develop, and manage work performance.
  • Communicategoals clearly to employees to ensure understanding and success in achieving them.

  • Ability to set a working schedule that allows for flexibility that is hybrid in nature, working 3+ days a week in an office location.
  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to work on a computer and phone simultaneously.
  • Ability to use a telephone through a headset.
  • Ability and means to travel 20% between Exact Sciences locations and supplier locations which may include overnights and weekend travel.
  • Ability and means to travel 5% between Exact Sciences location Madison locations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Finance, or a field related to the essential duties of this role.
  • 12+ years of experience in a sourcing/supply chain management role or a field related to the essential duties of this role.
  • 5+ years of experience in direct leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPSM or professional procurement certification.
  • Experience with Source-to-Pay systems, primarily in the Source-to-Contract components.

Salary Range:

$152,000.00 - $242,000.00

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to be considered for company stock at hire and on an annual basis.
