Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Network Security Engineer to oversee the security of our enterprise network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust security solutions to protect our systems from cyber threats. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a proactive approach to network security management.

Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and manage network security solutions, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and secure network architectures.

  • Lead security assessments, vulnerability analysis, and penetration testing to identify and mitigate risks.

  • Monitor network traffic and security logs to detect and respond to potential threats in real time.

  • Develop and enforce security policies, procedures, and best practices across the organization.

  • Collaborate with IT teams, security analysts, and compliance officers to ensure regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, GDPR) are met.

  • Lead incident response efforts as a Tier III operator, including investigation, containment, and resolution of security breaches and network related incidents.

  • Implement and manage identity and access management (IAM) solutions to ensure secure authentication and authorization.

  • Evaluate and integrate emerging security technologies to enhance network protection.

  • Conduct security awareness training for employees and stakeholders.

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior network security engineers.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • 7+ years of experience in network security engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, SIEM, NAC and endpoint security solutions
  • Proficiency in network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, BGP, etc.) and security frameworks
  • Hands-on experience with security tools such as Palo Alto, Cisco, Fortinet, Check Point, or similar
  • Familiarity with cloud security (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and Zero Trust architectures
  • Expertise in security standards and compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, CIS, PCI-DSS, etc.)
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell) are a plus
  • Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCSA, CCNP Security, CEH, or GIAC are highly desirable
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field
  • Experience with Network Security best practices and security automation
  • Knowledge of advanced threat detection techniques and AI-driven security analytics

This position is identified as being performed in/or reporting to company operations in New York State. Salary ranges are supplied in compliance with New York State law. Pay is competitive and based on a number of job-related factors, including skills and experience. The starting pay rate/range at time of hire for this position in the posted location is $133,661.00-$219,586.00/year. The rate/range provided herein is the anticipated pay at the time of hire, and does not reflect future job opportunity.
