Ardelyx is a publicly traded commercial biopharmaceutical company founded with a mission to discover, develop and commercialize innovative first-in-class medicines that meet significant unmet medical needs. Ardelyx has two commercial products approved in the United States, IBSRELA (tenapanor) and XPHOZAH (tenapanor). Ardelyx has agreements for the development and commercialization of tenapanor outside of the U.S. Kyowa Kirin commercializes PHOZEVEL (tenapanor) for hyperphosphatemia in Japan. A New Drug Application for tenapanor for hyperphosphatemia has been submitted in China with Fosun Pharma. Knight Therapeutics commercializes IBSRELA in Canada.
We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Associate Director, Market Research to join our growing team. This individual will play a critical role in providing data-driven insights to inform commercial strategy, optimize product positioning, and drive business decisions. Reporting to the VP of Operations and Analytics, the Associate Director will be responsible for designing, executing, and analyzing primary and secondary market research and competitive intelligence initiatives across the company's portfolio.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and execution of market research projects to support commercial decision-making, including brand strategy, forecasting, competitive intelligence, and customer insights
  • Identify and implement innovative market research methodologies to provide actionable insights that drive strategic initiatives
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Sales, Market Access, and Medical Affairs to translate research findings into impactful business recommendations
  • Manage relationships with external vendors and research partners, ensuring the quality and relevance of data collected
  • Analyze market trends, competitive landscapes, and customer needs to identify growth opportunities and potential risks
  • Develop and present comprehensive research reports and strategic recommendations to senior leadership
  • Participate in forecasting efforts by integrating market insights with business analytics
  • Ensure all market research activities comply with industry regulations and ethical standards
  • Monitor and analyze competitor activities, including pipeline developments, regulatory filings, clinical trial updates, and commercial strategies
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Life Sciences, or a related field with 8 - 10 years of experience in market research within the biopharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare industries
  • Advanced degree (MBA, MS, or PhD) preferred
  • Strong knowledge of primary and secondary research methodologies, including qualitative and quantitative techniques
  • Experience managing third-party research vendors and consultants
  • Proven ability to synthesize complex data into clear, strategic insights
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques, with experience in forecasting models a plus
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while managing multiple projects
Work Environment:
  • Hybrid corporate office (Waltham, MA, preferred) or remote-based position
The anticipated annualized base pay range for this full-time position is $182,000-$222,000. Ardelyx utilizes industry data to ensure that our compensation is competitive and aligned with our industry peers. Actual base pay will be determined based on a variety of factors, including years of relevant experience, training, qualifications, and internal equity. The compensation package may also include an annual bonus target and equity awards, subject to eligibility and other requirements.
Ardelyx also offers a robust benefits package to employees, including a 401(k) plan with generous employer match, 12 weeks of paid parental leave, up to 12 weeks of living organ and bone marrow leave, equity incentive plans, health plans (medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision), life insurance and disability, flexible time off, annual Winter Holiday shut down, and at least 11 paid holidays.
