Responsibilities

Nurse Practitioner- Behavioral Health -1099 employee

St. Vincent's is looking for a Part time nurse practitioner for their 10 bed geriatric psych inpatient unit and the outpatient unit. Under the general supervision of the Medical Director, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) will provide clinical services to the behavioral health program and is primarily responsible for diagnosing and treating patients; and providing continuing education to patients and their families according to approved protocols. The NP will assess the patients by examining medical history, physical exams and behavioral health evaluations; and ordering or performing diagnostic tests, and within the bounds of scope of practice as delineated by both federal and state regulations/guidelines.

Salary Information:

  • You will submit and collect your own billing.
  • We will contract with you for on-call coverage and rounding, in the amount of $800 per month

On Call Information:

  • Inpatient Coverage:
    • Providing on call coverage Monday-Friday 8a-5p
    • Providing on call overage every other weekend (Friday 8a-Monday8a)
  • Rounding:
    • Required every Monday, Tuesday, and every other Friday.
    • If there is an admission during your weekend coverage, you would need to come in to complete the psychiatric evaluation on that patient.
  • Outpatient Coverage :
    • Rounding on new admissions twice per week at most.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in inpatient admissions, transfers and discharges in accordance with established guidelines/standards
  • Complete patient diagnoses, treatment, education and referrals in accordance with Hospital policies
  • Perform treatment planning and intervention
  • Plan and initiate a therapeutic regimen which includes medication orders and reconciliation
  • Conduct physical exams of the patient during admission and attend to basic medical needs/issues; work with hospital specialists to manage more complicated medical conditions
  • Perform admission work-ups within twenty-four (24) hours of admissions and provide appropriate documentation as may be defined by Hospital policies
  • Perform rounds and record patient progress notes; compile detailed narrative and case summaries; complete forms pertinent to patients' medical records
  • Collaborate with physicians, multidisciplinary team members, and outside health and social agencies.
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality; and protects operations by keeping patient and program information confidential
  • Interpret the clinical needs of the patient to nonclinical staff assigned to the patient

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Nursing accredited through the commission on Collegiate Nursing
  • NP license in Indiana
  • Doctor of nursing practice highly preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of clinical experience
