Position Summary Information












Primary Purpose
The athletic program at Appalachian State University operates on the premise that intercollegiate athletics is an integral part of the institution's overall program of education. This position will represent the athletics director in various capacities.

The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Director of Player Personnel with the day-to-day recruiting operations in the Football program.
Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an appropriately accredited institution

  • NCAA Division I Football Recruiting, Coaching Experience or Playing Experience
  • Experience and Knowledge of University, NCAA Rules and Conference Compliance Rules
  • Knowledge of the High Schools, High School Coaches and High School Prospects
  • Experience with Official and Unofficial Recruiting Visits of High School Prospects and Parents
  • Experience with Hudl, Catapult Thunder/DVSport, Recruiting Databases, Recruiting Services and Microsoft Office

License/Certification Required

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The primary purpose of this position is to assist the Head Football Coach with the day-to-day recruiting operations in the Football program:

  • Assist with the development of the organization's long and short-term recruiting strategies.
  • Assist with supervising all daily operations of the recruiting process.
  • Assist with football roster management strategies and procedures.
  • Assist with initial eligibility for prospects.
  • Assist with on-campus recruiting visits.
  • Assist with scouting & monitoring process for NCAA transfer portal.
  • Assist with coordinating prospects identification process.
  • Assist with talent evaluation process of prospects.
  • Assist with background screening for prospects.
  • Assist with recruiting-related coaches' travel.
  • Assist with football camps.
  • Assist with monitoring the recruiting budget.
  • Other duties as assigned.
