Lead Peri-Operative Aide (Operating Room - Ambulatory Surgery Center)

Why M Physicians?

Regardless of role, we recognize that every member of our team is vital! The Peri-Operative Aide - Lead works under the supervision of a registered nurse to care for surgical patients before and after procedures, assists patients with personal hygiene (toileting), nutrition (feeding), ambulation, and activities of daily living (dressing/undressing). Obtains and documents vital signs and admission information in electronic health record. They will also support in transporting patients within the department and at discharge.

The Lead will supervise daily schedules and coordinate with OR Patient Flow Lead on schedule changes and room changes. Is responsible for completing the POA staff schedule (under the direction of the OR Manager) so that the needs of the department are met. Restocks supplies/instruments not needed for procedures. They are in charge of completing the 6-week staffing grid and submitting to OR Manager for approval.

What you will do as a Peri-Operative Aide Lead:
  • Transports patients to and from perioperative services
  • Reports any changes observed in condition or behavior of patients to receiving RN
  • Sets up room with correct furniture, equipment, surgical table, positioning devices, supplies, and basic anesthesia equipment.
  • Assists clinical staff with Pre-operative and Post-operative patient care.
  • Under the direct supervision of an RN and/or physician while using proper body mechanics, positions the patient, lifts and turns the patient, and holds the patient's extremities during skin preparation.
  • Performs room turnover duties
  • Keeps the anesthesia carts clean, neat, and fully stocked as per the supply list.
  • Assists anesthesia care provider with inspection of the anesthesia machine and with monitoring of equipment for proper functioning before each case.
  • Runs errands within the medical center, and relays messages as advised.
  • Builds case carts from EPIC pick sheets
  • Monitors supplies and works with IS to maintain appropriate Par Levels
What you will need:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required within three months of hire.
  • One+ year of clinical experience in an accredited hospital or surgical center. Cooperation with and maintenance of good rapport with nursing staff, ancillary personnel, other departments, patients, family members, and physicians.
  • Knowledge of room sterilization requirements.
  • Knowledge of accurate body mechanics. Ability to lift and position patients and equipment.
  • Ability to perform routine duties accurately with minimal direction. Good prioritization and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility, ability to deal optimally with unforeseen requests or circumstances during a case.
  • Maintenance of patient and medical staff confidentiality.

Compensation:

23.82 - 34.54 USD Hourly
