Essential Job Duties |
The IT Analyst/Programmer will develop, test, and implement new software solutions for the integration of hardware components in precision agriculture research. This role is focused on designing custom software to integrate computer vision and IoT technologies used for data collection and crop monitoring in agricultural fields. The successful candidate will support the Precision Sustainable Agriculture network by enhancing existing technologies, improving system functionality, and assisting with adjacent projects as needed
Key Responsibilities:
Software Development & Integration: Design, develop, and test software solutions that integrate computer vision and IoT hardware components for agricultural data collection and crop monitoring systems. Collaboration with Researchers: Work closely with researchers, staff, and stakeholders from the Department of Crop and Soil Sciences and USDA's grant-funded projects to ensure successful integration of hardware and software systems in precision agriculture applications. System Support & Maintenance: Improve and support existing agricultural technologies, troubleshoot issues, and assist with maintaining the systems to ensure optimal performance. Documentation & Reporting: Document progress on projects, write detailed technical reports, and create user manuals and online resources for public access once systems are released. Training & Mentorship: Train and manage undergraduate students involved in software development and system integration tasks, providing guidance on both technical and research aspects.
