Job ID: 96623

Do you want to work on complex and pressing challenges-the kind that bring together curious, ambitious, and determined leaders who strive to become better every day? If this sounds like you, you've come to the right place.
Your Impact
The North America (NA) Public Sector practice provides management consulting services to governments at the Federal, and State and Local levels, as well as other public sector entities. To support further growth, the practice is seeking a pricing manager to join the NA Public Sector Proposal Team based in the Washington, DC office to provide pricing support to proposals.
You will join our Washington DC office as part of the NA Public Sector Proposal Team, with a focus on supporting McKinsey's client service to the US Federal, State, and Local Government. You will be a thought partner to NA Public Sector leadership leaders to help deliver the client activation mission, supporting the overall client activation strategy and serving as the point person managing US Public Sector proposal pricing activities.
You will collaborate with the Practice leadership and management team, Client Development Advisors, proposal managers, and finance and legal/contracting teams. You will collaborate with consultants leading priority proposals. Day-to-day you will work with other members of the proposal team, a multidisciplinary team of colleagues supporting the internal operations of the US Government Practice, and various internal Client Service Teams (CSTs).
In this role, you will help build out and manage the proposal pricing team for US Public Sector, and will manage the proposal pricing team's performance and health, price proposal support model, prioritization, and overall portfolio. This role is a unique blend of strategy, operations, content expertise, stakeholder management, communications / design, and project management.
In this role, you will lead the development of price proposals for a large portfolio of projects. This includes either owning key content elements for complex, high-priority proposals or supporting consultant teams in creating proposals of lower complexity.
You will also manage a team of pricing professionals, overseeing hiring, onboarding, training, capacity management, prioritization, connectivity, and performance management.
Collaboration with practice leadership will be a key aspect of your work as you develop and implement pricing strategies and establish expectations for exceptional pricing proposal management. You will serve as a thought partner to consulting teams, offering guidance on pricing best practices and strategies. Additionally, you will work closely with colleagues across the Proposal Excellence group-such as Proposal Managers, Specialists, and Analysts-as well as with other teams, including Legal, Finance, and Cell Leaders, to shape priorities and approaches, ensuring the best of the firm is brought to each price proposal.
Your responsibilities will also include identifying, creating, and embedding new pricing knowledge, tools, assets, and processes to significantly enhance practice proposal performance. You will upskill consultants on pricing best practices through short awareness sessions or formal training programs, while also innovating and institutionalizing pricing resources and tools for the broader Proposal Excellence group and cell teams.
Where necessary, you will facilitate reviews with other firm functions, conduct compliance and quality checks, and provide insights on opportunity-specific pricing strategies.
Your Growth
Driving lasting impact and building long-term capabilities with our clients is not easy work. You are the kind of person who thrives in a high performance/high reward culture - doing hard things, picking yourself up when you stumble, and having the resilience to try another way forward.
In return for your drive, determination, and curiosity, we'll provide the resources, mentorship, and opportunities you need to become a stronger leader faster than you ever thought possible. Your colleagues-at all levels-will invest deeply in your development, just as much as they invest in delivering exceptional results for clients. Every day, you'll receive apprenticeship, coaching, and exposure that will accelerate your growth in ways you won't find anywhere else.
When you join us, you will benefit from continuous learning in a culture that emphasizes growth and development.
Backed by structured programs, our learning and apprenticeship approach creates an environment where feedback is clear, actionable, and focused on helping you improve. This diversity fuels creativity and allows us to develop the most effective solutions for our clients. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to learn from exceptional colleagues with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.
We also offer world-class benefits to support your well-being. Alongside a competitive salary tailored to your location, experience, and skills, we provide a comprehensive benefits package. This includes medical, dental, mental health, and vision coverage for you, your spouse or partner, and your children, ensuring you have the support you need to thrive both personally and professionally.
