Oversee and manage the fiscal operations of the Financial Aid Department, ensuring that funds are disbursed correctly, efficiently, and in compliance with federal, state, and institutional guidelines. This role is critical for maintaining the integrity of the financial aid process, overseeing funds, and ensuring that the institution stays within the guidelines for awarding Federal Student Financial Aid.
Essential Duties
Oversee and manage all fiscal operations related to Title IV student funding, ensuring accurate daily account management, quality control, and fund reconciliation, while strictly adhering to financial aid regulations and guidelines.
Troubleshoot and data analysis on various federal and state web sites to include but not limited to: Common Origination and Disbursement, National Student Loan Database System, and Banner systems.
Responsible for managing daily student workflow and reports to resolve any discrepancies to ensure timely processing of student aid.
Collaborates effectively with multiple college departments to address student aid inquiries and resolve disbursement issues.
Monitor and resolve issues of, but not limited to, overpayments, default, Pell and loan limits as well as other C-flag alerts.
Conducts needs analysis in compliance with federal criteria to determine the eligibility of each financial aid applicant.
Assists in the Return of Title IV calculations as it pertains to post withdrawal disbursements and returning of unearned aid.
Determines the types and amounts of financial aid to be awarded through the packaging process according to federal, state, and institutional requirements. Monitors individual student awards. Resolves data conflicts and over awards.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree or equivalent education in Business, Accounting or other related area. Degree requirement may be substituted with relevant and equivalent work experience.
1 year experience working in the Financial Aid environment.
Experience working with Federal Title IV regulations, policies and procedures related to financial aid.
Detail-oriented with good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to perform responsibilities with initiative and minimal supervision.
Ability to interact effectively in a team-based environment, and with college service areas and student population.
