Financial Reporting Systems Administrator (Hybrid)

This Financial Reporting Systems Administrator position is responsible for the integrity of core financial reporting system activities from which financial statements are produced for all companies under Minnesota Mutual Companies (MMC) ownership. The duties associated with the function have broad reaching impacts across multiple areas of the organization and include, but are not limited to, financial reporting system accountability, and coordination of source system testing impacting accounting results.

As of December 31, 2024: Responsible for the accuracy of approximately 2,200 core financial reporting system accounts across 45+ business units in the MMC reporting structure.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Serve as business owner of Financial Reporting systems and interfaces used to produce and maintain financial records. This will include coordinating with the Financial Product Ecosystem (FPE) product owners, Enterprise Technology (ET) Support teams, financial accounting managers and includes providing associate training as needed pertaining to the use of the systems and related tools needed to produce and maintain financial records. Coordinate and approve financial reporting system access requests.
  • Collaborate with ET to ensure daily/monthly/quarterly ledger processing schedules are maintained and communicated, that related output is generated, and changes are communicated to programming teams and end users. Includes on-call support when needed working with business and technology areas to resolve problems.
  • Coordinate core financial reporting system testing efforts relative to maintenance of master data and code block values in response to new product offerings, system changes, system upgrades and other organizational initiatives prior to moving into the production environment following established guidelines, to ensure proper financial statement treatment and data integrity.
  • Coordinate with FPE product owners to ensure business and product requirements are consistent, define requirements for roadmap and backlog items. Participate in cross-functional product development teams to prioritize and deliver new product features and enhancements to existing technology, including software developers, UI/UX Designers, R&D, product owners, content operations, finance, marketing, customer service, and testing.
  • Partner with Internal Audit to ensure functional controls around the financial reporting systems are designed, documented, and operating effectively to mitigate risks to the financial statements.
  • Supervise the Controller Department Accounting Memorandum (CDAM) process and its transition to new technology platform - includes education of users regarding procedures for master data and code block requests and CDAM preparation.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of GAAP and statutory accounting and core financial reporting systems.
  • Ability to present information and self in a professional manner with varying levels of associates and management to provide comprehensive training and conduct effective meetings.
  • Effective organization and planning skills to manage the high volume of testing projects impacting the interfaces and enhancements to the core financial reporting system.
  • Proven analytical abilities to work with business and technical areas to ensure appropriate information is sent to the core financial reporting system.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, CPA preferred.
  • Solid technical skills to manage input, output and data within the core financial reporting systems and various databases and SharePoint sites.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and willing to take on new challenges and projects.

The estimated base pay range for this job is:

$69,500.00 - $129,000.00

Pay may vary depending on job-related factors and individual experience, skills, knowledge, etc. More information on base pay and incentive pay (if applicable) can be discussed with a with a member of the Securian Financial Talent Acquisition team.
