Job Title: Mechanical Designer

Location(s): Palo Alto, CA

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer for a short-term contract position. The ideal candidate will be proficient in SolidWorks, capable of designing mechanical parts and assemblies, ordering parts, and assisting with assembly. This role requires a hands-on approach and the ability to quickly translate design concepts into functional components.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Design mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks.
  • Generate detailed engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications.
  • Select and order appropriate materials and components.
  • Collaborate with engineers and vendors to ensure design feasibility.
  • Assist with prototype assembly and testing.
  • Troubleshoot and revise designs based on testing and feedback.


Qualifications:


  • Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and 2D drafting.
  • Experience in mechanical design, fabrication, and assembly.
  • Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and tolerances.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
  • Experience with ordering parts and working with suppliers.
  • Hands-on mechanical assembly experience is a plus.


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Familiarity with SAP PLM system.


Must-Have Skills:


  • SolidWorks for mechanical design work.
  • Experience in making mechanical parts and assemblies.
  • GD&T experience.
  • Familiarity with machining techniques.
  • Attention to detail.


Nice-to-Have Skills:


  • AUTOCAD, SAP PLM, self-starter, good work ethic, internal R&D for structural parts, FEA (Finite Element Analysis), 10 years of experience.


Additional Requirements:


  • Must have CCWSCSVCC and SolidWorks, Mechanical Engineering bachelor's degree, manufacturing experience.
