THIS POSITION IS FOR 2ND SHIFT (4pm -2:15am) BRIEF DESCRIPTION: The quality technician is responsible for quality inspection and auditing of manufacturing operations, component and finished goods as well as quality records, execute product activities and reconciles related records; assists in completing discrepancy corrective/preventative action; and assist with auditing of suppliers. Perform receiving, in-process and final inspections ensuring compliance to quality metrics and standards. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conducts required process audits and update the work instructions (SOP's), as required.
- Records measurement data into database systems for capturing, analyzing, and providing timely and accurate reporting.
- Reads and interprets blueprint drawings and be proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments.
- Inspects and examines material for quality compliance and process rejected product.
- Operates forklift, power pallet jack or manual carts or pallet jacks to unload, move or store materials.
- Follows safety and PPE procedures and reports violations to supervisor, leads, and/or to safety.
- Follows work practices that are in the guidelines of OSHA standards.
- Follows all Environmental Health and Safety rules and ISO requirements.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with 5s requirements, rules, and regulations.
- Must be able to work required overtime as needed.
- Work with members of leadership and quality to solve issues.
- Other duties may be assigned as needed.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Education:
- High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
- Additional quality certifications (i.e. ASQ certifications) preferred.
- Ability to use MS-Office (Word, Excel, E-Mail and other Windows-based applications.)
Experience:
- A minimum of (1) one years related work experience that includes a working knowledge of precision measuring instruments such as CMM, micrometers, height gauges & calipers, etc.
- Basic math skills with ability to perform basic math calculations, such as, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Plus, knowledge of fractions, decimals, and squares, and square roots.
- Experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis, and problem-solving techniques, root cause analysis, quality assurance practices and concepts with the ability to lead continuous improvement/kaizen events.
- Ability to read a tape measure accurately.
- Ability to compare actual measurements to specifications and determine if finished product is acceptable quality.
- Able to read and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule format.
- Ability to provide extended flexible work hours, as work-load and projects requires.
- Be a team player and work well with others in process development, corrective action, and problem-solving situations.
- Ability to adapt quickly and effectively to change. Write neatly and accurately on daily logs, labels, etc. as required for trace-ability.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational, project and time management skills.
- Ability to provide extended flexible work hours, as work-load and projects requires.
- Good hand/eye coordination.
